what can our trannys handl
i have a s4 T2 tranny and a 88 na gtu rear end, what can these handl in terms of ftlbs.
|
v8 guys use stock rear ends
so they hold up pretty well |
thats what i thought, but i do plan on droping from 7k and i just want to make sure that i wont kill my tranny.
|
300 at least
i bet it can handle 250 of beating without a prob |
I would stick with a stock transmission (T2 or FD, same thing basically) up to about 500 rwhp on a 13B.. less on a 20B due to the increased torque.
I am not sure of how much ft-lbs of torque they can handle though. Many competitive drag racers run the stock transmission (due to rules) in cars making up to 650 rwhp (maybe more, but I haven't heard of it). I can imagine they have upgraded the internals somewhat though to strengthen it. |
uh guys remember this is an n/a diff. i think it'll blow up pretty quick. i don't plan on using mine after i get tuned, switching to the TII diff.
|
Yeah, NA differential isn't very strong. I was just refering to the TII transmission only.
|
im only going for 250rwhp, no bigy. but because its a na rear end and i do plan on ripping the shit out of the tranny(T2) motor(jspec 13bT) and the rear end witch is na. i will prolly blow my motor before the rear end goes. i think i will be fine since im only going ot have 250 rwhp and like 200 max torq if im lucky

The question is, what kind of TIRES are you using?
The V8 guys live with the stock Mazda 7" (N/A) diff because generally they use street type tires... they will go up in smoke well before you can hurt the diff. However, and this is my favorite adage, you can break *anything*, even a Mack Truck's drivetrain, with a lawnmower engine, if you have a heavy enough flywheel, a strong enough clutch, and enough traction. |
what the HELL!? There is so much misinformation floating around this site, it makes me sick!! Half the people say "N/A diff is weak as hell" the other half say "TII and FD guys have no problem with it"
well who is right!? I tend to think the latter... (because they mention pople actaully USING it) but christ people, just becasue it was N/A doesnt neccisarily mean everything on the goddamn car couldnt hold more than stock power [/rant] |
