Turbo for T2 engine with 9,7's
 

Hi, i have a T2 engine with 9,7 rotors, wich is a fresh rebuild, only have around a 100miles on it.

It only has a small streetport, so it won't make much power the way it sits, and i'm considering turning it in to a track only car, since i just got myself a reliable daily driver.

I have power FC with wideband and egt sensors for tuning.
Going to run water injection to help avoid knock.
I have a T4 manifold with external wastegate wich has a base pressure of 7psi.
Plan on running a 3" single exhaust.

My goals:
Around 250whp
Fast response/quick spool up.


What turbo should i get?
Also i'm on a budget, so not much more than 700$

You will probably have more problems keeping the power under 300rwhp / 363BHP if you use a decently sized turbo and set the car up right.

8psi on a 13B at sea level at 7500rpm is right around 363bhp / 300rwhp...

Most turbos with T4 flanges are going to support way way way more power than what you want.

I'd suggest you ask the mods to move this post to the single turbo section where people will probably say to use a PT5862CEA with a small exhaust housing or similar.

Precision turbos are out of my price range, from what i can find.

From what i can find i think a Borg warner S300 should do nicely both for my budget and power.

If you are not going for huge numners, there is no reason to go too big on your turbo. You are just sacrificing your response by doing so.

I would hate to have very noticable turbo lag in a less than 14 psi setup.

And the S300 is too big for that in your opinion? Maby a S200 would be a better choice?
