TorSen LSD in the SNOW

My LSD in my SE is shoot I have been doing research and found miata TorSen LSD is bolt and play. I also saw that TorSen LSDs are no good for drifting. I live in the
muntains @4000ft and get snow. I try to drive my SE as much as possible because it's a blast to drive. Should I just rebuild my Clutch type or go with the TorSen and never rebuild again?

FWIW, I really liked the miata LSD. The miata is the most predictable car ever built IMO, but it still spins both wheels when its slippery. You still won't be climbing any mountains without some really good tires and some bags of sand though...

I've used a miata 1.8l torsen for some years in my daily/winter/wet-surface drift b*tch...

worked really well and is a direct plug&play swap into the FC3S NA housing...

As patman stated, a torsen is tourque sensitive... therefore, in the snow, If you get 0Nm tourque down ond the spinning tyre, you will transfer 0Nm to the tyre with grip...

But this never was a problem, just slide overspeeded with some angle into the turn, and you want have a problem... if you are REALLY stuck, just apply the handbrake to transfer some tourqe onto the grippier tyre ;)

for snow driving/mountain action (like i usually do 3-4months/year in the austrian alps) you really need very good tyres... my personal favourite in the last season was the Dunlop WinterSport 3D... I also drive this tyre this year, I'm not very impressed from the WinterSport 4D

another +1 for the miata torsen is that its not 1way like the stock FC LSD... makes big angle in braking situations, and with the stock BIAS of the FC3S chassis, it just feels perfectly right :)

*thumbs up* for the miata torsen in your winterbitch!

If you are from Europe, I have one flying around in my garage, already installed in a fc3s s4 NA housing :)

Yep, just make sure its either NA or Turbo as putting a NA LSD in a TII housing won't work
