Do they have outer water orings that are 1 piece like the innner ones? I'm kind of weary about splicing them.
Thanks, Ed |
buy these http://mazdatrix.com/getprice.asp?partnum=10-B720-N326
only 7 dollars a piece and made for it. thats what i plan on doing, im not going to splice anything. |
What inner orings are you going with? I was thinking teflon for the inners and stockers for the outers. It still comes out cheaper right?
Thanks, Ed |
im getting the ones from mcmaster for the inners and the stockers for the outers. easier for me that way.
|
Would these inner water seals work for a 12a?
|
Double post
|
Yes they will work. The only differance between the 12A and 13b is the width of the housing. The diameters of both engines are the same.
|
i got all mine today. ill take some photos tomorrow and show you all:D
|
Just making sure because the inners of the 12a's and 13b's have different part numbers. Looking forward to the pics!

I'm gonna go with no?
|
yeah. i am too. ok the 158 is too big around and too thin. do not buy it or you will have what i have, a useless oil seal. so i ordered some more today the 247 i believe it was so i should have them the next business day.
is anyone familiar with mcmaster carrs return policy? i cant seem to find it on their website. |
but on a positive not. the other ones work
http://img55.photobucket.com/albums/...ck21/seals.jpg cost: 40$ for inner water seals. (4) 11.70 for outer oil control rings (1 bag of 5) 11.52 for inner (1 bag of 5) shipping for next fedex priority is something like 14$ and the outer water seal can be had from mazdatrix for something like 7 a piece (not worth the time of putting them together) |
Originally posted by rotarygod I have the Hayes seals in my 2nd gen. They get mashed down pretty far so sealing isn't an issue. I love them. You can even take them out and stick them in another engine later. Try that with the stock ones! The ones from McMaster-Carr are the EXACT same ones sold by Hayes. Hayes wants $100 a set. McMaster-Carr wants $10 apiece ($40 total) for them. Hayes has to make a buck somehow. Wish I'd have know about McMaster-Carr earlier. FWIW do not under any circumstances use the environmentally safe (orange or blue) antifreeze with the teflon/silicone seals. They literally dissolve in a matter of seconds! Stick to the good old fashioned Prestone type. |
Razorback can you please post the right part numbers for the oil and water seals?
I'm going to be ordering mine soon. Thanks, Ed |
Oil control:
9464K125 Dash 244 - $11.52/pack of 5 in viton Oil control: 9464K548 Dash 247 - $11.70/pack of 5 in viton Inner water seal: 9319K239 Dash 175 - $9.94 each and just buy the outer seal from mazdatrix. its cheap and easier. |
Thanks for the #'s. Quick question though. Are these numbers for both 12A's and 13B's? The reason I aske is because I'm building a 4port using 83 12A irons with an 85 13B rotors and housings.
Thanks, Ed |
the oil control o rings im having problems with fitment and getting them in the grooves.
|
Keep us posted!
Thanks, Ed |

Anymore difficult than stock orings to install? |
the inner oil control rings are easy to get in (dip them in motor oil and tap them in with a hammer) the outters i got (with the numbers posted will not fit. they are wayyy to big. i tried to bash them in there with a hammer and nothing.
|
Any updates?
|
Not sure, but my motor that just lost a coolant seal had haynes seals and my mechanic does not like them one bit.
