swaps

why do ppl do v8 swaps? i mean its called an rx for a reason... i dont understand, it'd be alot cheaper to rebuilt it anyway and then spend the remaining equivalent on mods.... can someone please tell me why people even bother doing that?

On Ebay, I found only 1 seller of a S5 NA front iron. It came in a partly ripped box. Bad omen right? Yeah well it there was a 1.5 mm diameter chip along the outside edge touching the face where the coolant seal lies. In addition, there were grooves in it. Aside from the broken passage on my original iron, it was in better condition.

In other words, there are a lack of quality parts 20 years after the fact. I'm not even talking about affordability.

But in general, the 13b has a lot of failures from an engineering standpoint when it comes to failure. The could have designed to a better factor of safety at infinite on my parts...changed materials/alloys, [better] accounted for corrosive fatigue...

This doesnt really happen so much with say a VG30de, KA's, or LT/LS. Part of the reason is due to the sheer volume and support available nationwide - and their designs progressed for that reason. Not to mention - development of compatible engines extended until a more recent time period.

You can get a swap kit and diy for anywhere from $1-5k (depending on set up), and source/swap entire powerplants in a matter of days. Or you can spend valuable time searching for risky parts or paying $500 a piece for new housings only to face the possibility of another rebuild because statistics make a strong argument that the 13b just isnt that bulletproof - maintained or not

Actually its funny u mention that cause my brother told me he doesnt want me to take his G and buy any NA 13B car I wanf instead. This is perfectly that. Well of course thats the casd but you could always just import a JDM 1992 FC enginr cause itll have less kilometers on it by a long shot. Also most people have to mod their cars anyway to keep them alive of theyre that old right?
