S/C engine build questions
 

Im looking at wanting to build a s4 engine i have was thinking about using s4 turbo rotors lowest compression ratio to help avoid detonation. Would also like to at least street port the engine. Not shure if i should stop there or do other porting wold lime to keep it streetable. Looking to do coolant and oil mods The only s/c i can seam to find a kit for is a Camden. Now i have read that a s5 upper on a s4 can be a performance mod and its better than the s4 maybe mot by much but i guess it is also it seams the s6 upper is better than the s5. Not shure what upper would be the best to go with would like to at least increase low end power. Not shure if i want to sacrifice mid for high end or high end for mid. Has anyone done a build like this and what kind of hp was generated?

Doesn't the Camden completely replace the intake? If not, the FD upper is the one you want for forced induction but obviously is not a direct bolt on fitment. Why do you want to go SC over a good turbo kit?

If i were you, i would use a s4 t2 keg & rotors, and streetport the irons. With s5 n/a intakes with the ports dremeled out to match the turbo irons Then build it from there

i like the idea of boost on demand no turbo lag and something different . I dont believe its a total intake replacement.

I have the s4 na keg so i figured i would use it. And want to improve low end

the 5th/6th ports will still hurt your low end, unless you figure a way to make the actuators work, or fill them in?

Looking at the Camden site, it definitely replaces the intake. Buy it and see what happens? You're going to need some form of engine management and larger injectors as well.

Just an FYI the new Borg Warner EFR turbos, either 7670 or 8374, are very well known for not being at all laggy and have very linear power delivery if you want another option. This is a setup that has been tested by many people on these forums to work well with the 13B and is available as a kit from multiple vendors. Just wanted to give a different option since turbos have changed A LOT in recent years so the idea that "turbos are laggy" does not necessarily apply.

But you should always build what you are interested in because nothing is worse than slogging through a build you are not excited to work on.

People call turbos “laggy� because they buy the big one thinking OMG MO POWA and then bitch about how theres no low end when its not built for low end boost

that being said i can't make up my mind about the supercharger. the supercharger does favor the low end, they tend to run out of puff up top.

so do you build an engine just for low end, or do you build it with 6 ports open, trying to broaden it out a little?

the only thing i would do to the engine, is run the 8.5 rotors, and i would also run the FD thrust bearing stack, its bigger, and it'll help take the load of the supercharger belt
