Rx8 Stationary Gears in a 12a?
From what Ive read, it is possible.
But I have not read a single sentence where someone actually did it.
Rotary engine .com offers a milling service to cut down the gear face, to make it the same height as a 12 gear:
REC Services | Bearing & Gear Services | 12A Upgrade
So, has anyone done this?
Either way, I am picking up a set tomorrow and will be milling them down myself. I will also mill in the oring seal that the rx8 gears are lacking.
They are dirt cheap so why not.

Ive used them with no problems . The REC I used in my engine have no groove for oring seal since I purchased them when he first started modifying them. I have also used a set from Drummond same as REC no groove . I used the right stuff on them...........( frown upon) if you can machine a groove on them do so.
Make sure the oil feed holes on the stationary gears line up with the oil supply galley on the irons.
On the FC 13Bs, the hole in the gear is slightly offset from the galley and needs to be ported to match.
I have used RX8 gears on several engines with good results. It is difficult to find used RX8 gears with good bearings because of the awful 5w20 recommended oil. 20w50 engines are usually mint.

I modified and installed these this weekend. Everything fit as it should after cutting the gear faces down.
3mm off the front, 4mm off the rear.
I did enlarge downward the rear oil passage to match up with the rear oil feed.
This is a cheap, awesome, worthwhile, upgrade!
