ok if your tach reads 9k is your rotor going 9k or the eccentric shaft going 9k. if its the rotor going 9k that means the eccentric shaft is going 27k (x3) and vice versa

FD3SR1 07-14-04 10:31 PM

just wondering. it's late and got bored!

eccentric shaft is going 9k... think about it, if your engine were spinning 27k how fast would the rear wheels be spinning :D

FD3SR1 07-14-04 11:20 PM

so when the eccentric shaft is going 9k the rotors are going 3k. The eccentric shaft goes around 3 times for every one rotation of the rotor. I didnt know, if the eccentric was spinnig at 27k it could be reduced at the trans. I didnt think it would spin that fast but still wanted to know for sure!

27K, I wish I had a motor that did that.

me too! :)

im confused!

actually the first rotary design by mr wankel was a engine that could hit 20,000 rpms... It included a rotating housing over a rotor. The problem with it is that every time you wanted to change the spark plugs you had to tear down the engine :P so they opted for mr. wankels understudys design.

Here's a rotary that wouldn't be hard to spin at 27,000rpm.:)
