renesis swap in fc?

renisis swap in fc?
the reason is im looking for alot of NA power which is hard too get out of a 13b and keep some fuel miledge (like 250hp) and the reason i dont want too go turbo is i am planning on doing some drifting with this setup so i need a engine that can sustain full blast for a long time all the time and not blow) so what would it take i know the monts are diferent and i want too use the renesis trans but are they similar too the 20b or fd mounts so one of the conversion kits from them would get me close? i wont be using power steering or ac so i wont have too worry bout all that and this probaly wont happen till next summer but if u have any ideas on how too make it easier if u know anything bout it let me know id really apreciate it

thanks

where are you planning on getting one?

as far as i know they arn't availible as a crate motor.

the mounts are different from the fc and fd. i hope you dont use the stock ecu either, it needs a bunch of stuff from the car to work (climate control, guages, etc)

If you want more power, going RX-8 is actually a step in the wrong direction.  The (PP) exhaust port has the potential to make more power.

A BP 13B can make more power than a Renesis can.

i think somebody's housings are craving a bridgeport! :asthanos:

chairchild 05-31-04 08:41 PM

just an idea, but how would the exhaust ports on a renisis react to a bridgeport?

rotoboy20 05-31-04 11:21 PM

do it and find out!

thats about the only way to know. unless you get a 13b and put pp exhaust iorns on it, with a bridge port, and do another motor the same but without the bridge port, just a really big ass port job

hey it could work.

Yeah m but you guys are forgetting the Gas mileage part. He wants his cake and he eat it too.

bp is capable of mid 20's gas mileage, renisis gets like 18....

Xavier8 06-01-04 11:41 AM

Thats a very general statement about renesis gas milage since GM is based not only on the engine but on the weight and design of the vehicle it is installed in. I get 24 mpg in my RX-8, and if it were installed in a lighter vehicle it would most likely get even better. I only get about 25 mpg in my 12a powered spitfire, and it weighs 1600 lbs.
I am not saying a BP gets worse gas milage than a renesis, but it is hard to generalize an engine itself, only an engine and car combination.

To add to the mileage issue Xavier8, the Renesis (even with an M flash) still runs to rich. That engine in a lighter car with a leaner mixture should produce really good mileage and performance.

do an aux-bridge and streetport on s5-sixport motor. keep the auxports functional and rebuild with reni-rotors/bearings. itll pull like a beast to 9k or a little more and still be very civil for a daily driver. itl need a standalone to get rid of the MAF and reach full potential, but you would need that on the reni anway since its ecu ties into far to many other sensors on the car and is far too complicated to hack effectively for the purposes of running in another car..

hmm alright i still want too go with the renisis because in i want a reliable 250 NA horsepower and i could get that out of a renesis with some decent gas miledge and sill have some decent torque plus i love high reving engines and too upgraade the 13b too a 14000rpm would take some work and ohh yea i pla on getting the engine out of the junk yard when i have the cash theres been 2 or 3 come and go on ebay already (one was the 6 speed which is the 238 hp model wich is what i want) also ive seen maybe 6 different ones nearby where i live and if ive seen that many in the limited area i travel there must be quite a few sold so im guessing by next yr they will start showing up in junk yards here and there another reason i want too do it is i want something thats different and im plannin on doin a 3rd gen front end conversion by the end of summer so ill have 25 tails s4 frame wit roll cage, kyb AGX, racin beat suspension package, mazdatrix 3pt strut bar upfront, 4pt strut bar in the back stripped interior x brace and front suspention braces from cork sport, late mustang rims (the ones that are 5 spoke design 17 by 7.5 and weigh in at 17 lbs) with blank center caps of course, cf GTC mirrors from GTP, cf radio/heat cover thing cf sideskirts, cf NA hood and apexi GT spec cat back from speed machine performance. im doin any other engine mods at the moment and putting about 50-100$ back a week for the engine swap wich im plannin on doin next summer which most of the money from then will get dumped into it then too so we will see how it works out get the suspension set up for someautocrossing, drifting (the main goal) and some driver courses and yes the front bumper and sideskirts will be removed for the first several drift sessions lol

im pretty sure the hp difference in the 2 engines (manual/auto) is only related to the ems and not the hardware. im not possative tho.

and serously man, standalone is gona be your only hope to get that thing running in an FC. people can barely get renis to dyno properly in rx-8's because of the psycho stock ems!! it'll probobly cost you less and be a whole lot easier to just go standalone right off the bat.

ZeroBanger 06-16-04 03:54 PM

I got 31.22 MPG at 60 MPH on cruise coming back from Reno last winter. while thats not typical, I still get 19 city -low 20's in mixed driving.

Its easy getting 25 MPG on a trip.
