Packing material for a resonated mid pipe?

I was wondering what type of material you guys are using in your pre-silencers/resonated mid pipes. I'm in the process of converting my non resonated mid pipe to a resonated one. I'm all finished except for choosing my packing material. Stainless steel wool was my first choice, but seems as though its nearly impossiable to find. (I've been searching localy for a couple days. :( ) Fiberglass is out of the question. How about regular old steel wool? Would it hold up to the heat of a rotary? Or would it end up like fiberglass?

Of anyone else has any ideas of packing material let me know. Thanks, CJ

Try to source some stainless steel scrubbers like restaurants use for pots and pans. That's pretty sturdy stuff. Best of luck!

Most of the resonated midpipes use a louvered design. This is basically paipe within a pipe with louvers on to to help absorb sound. The other type have a larger muffler which usually has stainless steel or fiberglass packing.

You can get stainless steel wool from McMaster.

Stainless Wool: McMaster

Something else that's used is ceramic wool. It's supposed to be a good bit more heat tolerant. Not sure where to go to it though.
