Oil Pump Adapters For Rotaries
 
Have any of the big dogs here on the forum used this adapter .

Plenty of pros I would think, but what about cons? anbody used it and had problems?

What type of 2-stroke oil would be best?

Considered it a lot over time.. but have not used it.
It looks to be a excelent concept and execution, however I decided it is simpler for me to just pre-mix.

I think for the not so careful rotary enthusiast.. they could have problems potentially because they may forget to keep the 2-stroke oil level filled... And if they let the Engine Oil level get low.. they will get the buzzers etc to warn them of low oil levels.

Now that said.. If you are the type of owner who actually gives a damn it could be a real trick piece that would work acceptably in most uses. It should save you the PITA of always keeping a quart of 2-stroke in the car for fuel stops on a street car.

And Yes.. step One.. remove the barb and install an AN/JIC fitting, and hang some braided line. :D

The barb fitting is only a gravity feed from the external oil tank. No need for an AN fitting unless you must have the need to spend money.

They didn't specify on the web page, but since its for planes, I would think that 8500 would deffinitely be OK, after that I wouldn't have a clue.

Or you could simply mod the existing OMP?

fill the hole on the side where it fixes to the motor with Devcon (or similar). Remove the endplates, and drill a small hole (about the same size as the pipes) and fit a small adaptor into each of them. Run a bit of piping from each end of the OMP, and then run it into the resevoir.

simple, does the job, no need to arse-about with oil at every fillup, and looks pretty sweet if you do it well!! :D

Well the adaptors are definately priced reasonably. They definately have it right when they describe standard engine oil has major drawbacks as opposed to 2 stroke oil.
You could fab a tank with a oil level sensor on it as a backup reminder ;) It would suck to install that setup and then forget to keep an eye on it.

the concept is great though IMHO

I consider this one but had so many other things going on during the build-up. From what I hear it interferes with the oil return pipe from the primary turbo if running twins. No bug deal just means you have to source some fittings/hose and make an appropriate size return line.

Real good idea, I will probably use this later on when converting to single.
