Need some help with a 13bt or a 13b-re(w) swap into a FB chassis

Anyone got any links I can study this up, before I consider throwing down the 1800 for a J spec?

I know how to get it mounted etc, its just the EFI and the igntion I havent worked out yet?

Thanx guys

Why pay $1800 for a used low mileage j-spec engine? You can find them for a lot less ($800-$1100).

The 13BT is a comman swap. I don't personally know of any 13B-REW swaps because the cost is so much higher and the "benefits" are not worth it in my opinion. You would want to switch to a single turbo anyway, so it's basically the same thing as a 13BT (with minor differences)

Go with a 13BT.. You can pick one up for ~$800 which is alot cheaper then an FD engine.. a 13BT is good up to ~400RWHP before reliability becomes on issue.. After that you need to be more careful.

Ok thats what I needed to know, the engine I was quoting the 1800 for was a 13bt-re ... But I was strongly considering a basic 13bt.

And an aftermarket ECU and ignition box will control this thing, so that wiring wont become a major issue. I kinda wanna stay in the 300 hp category and be around $4k

Thanks guys

Car made 500rwhp on pump fuel and 22psi

I know,, I know,. Im jealous as hell! Thats kinda what I want to do, but not as extreme as you. Id be happy with a little around 300hp :)

I visted your site and it was very helpfull. But what I need to know is what ECU and what ignition box, and any other problems that you encountered I should know about :) thanks bigtime!

PS Your steering wheel is on the wrong side LOL I just had to do that :D

:D

Haltech E6K running fuel andignition. Coils are 2nd Gen RX7. Work a treat all the way to 22psi and C16!!

Go to the 1st-gen forum and check out the pics in the thread "Show me your engine bays" (something like that) The way a 13B-RE fits in an FB engine bay is incredible... like the intake manifold was designed to clear an FB.

Nevermind... AJC13B posted 'em here too :D

(hey it takes like 10 minutes for pictures to load... my ISP sucks)

MIKE-P-28 02-06-02 09:41 PM

Thats exactly what I had in mind was a Haltec E6K.. so It does the igntion too with the stock coils. Sweet! This isnt gonna be too bad then with an ECU like that. I thought this is what I need but wasnt sure... :)

By the way just put the order through for a '91 Jspec T2 motor :)

Cheers mate :)

PS by the way your car is awesome!

@peejay I got ADSL love it, no more waiting :)

I had two GSL-SE and then bought my TII. Seeing this makes me want to stop the build up of my TII and drop a cosmo motor in a GSL-SE. Nice work!! Just curious...how much do Simmons wheels go for? They are the sweetest looking wheels on a 1st gen. Again very nice.

Take Care,
Dave

I hope to do something similar during the summer. Still trying too figure out how realistic it is.
I'm hoping to do everything correctly for about 3.5k (minus the haltec... for now) over ths summer. Need too research the topic a bit more though =].
any tips/links/general comments would be appreciated.

Thanks for the comments guys :D

phin - I payed $3200AUD for rims with tyres. SO figure around $1600US. I now have A032R Yokohamas on the back though which didn't come with the rims.
