MSD Installation

So, I'm making the jumpt to CDI now that I've finally got a couple days with nothing else to do. I've got everything I need, except for a quick answer to a quick question.

The Digital 6 wants to know how many cylinders are in the car...

Why does it want to know that? Especially if it's just receiving the firing signal from an external source, why does it even care?

Wait, wait, that's not the quick question. The quick question is, how many "cylinders" is the right answer for a 13B?

19

4.

4 is the correct answer.

Is that the one that is multi-channel so you can hook it up to all 3 coils?

Four. Ok, cool. I figured it was either for or six.

And, no, I'm just going with the Digital 6 Plus running two coils in parallel to drive the leading, and a Dis 2 to run the trailing. I didn't want to try anything new, and since a couple other people have been running this setup and are happy with it, I figured it was worth trying first before deviating too far from the norm.

Think you got it backwards?

The two coils are the trailing.

No, two coils in parallel to run the leading.

This means the MSD box fires a pair of standard coils (Blaster 2's work good) simultaneously and each coil has its own leading spark plug. The MSD can drive two coils in parallel, I ran my 6AL like this last year and had no problems.

Might have some advantages vs. a double ended coil... with a double ended coil one of the spark plugs always is "reversed polarity" whereas with two individual coils the polarity is the same.
