Measuring port flow
 

What tools would be best to use if I wanted to measure CFM and pressure drop through the intake ports? I want to be able to create stock data, then compare it to different methods of porting. Thanks

I built one for about $250. It's an orifice type with home made manometers.

I never calibrated it, but it measures very repeatably and allows me to compare before and after.

I've not had the chance to flow ports on a rotary. I've thought about it and seen posts that it's a waste of time. The total cross section of the rotary ports in relation to the displacement would make for a pretty low velocity flow compared to piston engines. So really porting on a rotary is less about increasing flow and more about port timing. But, matching the flow to balance AFRs between rotors, may be worthwhile.

I've read the same thing, but it seems like it would help for with port matching( as you stated) and for calculating CFM of the port. And some like PP or bridge IS about air volume.
