Mazda engine updates
1 Attachment(s)
Something crossed my mind the other day when I received a new engine plate I bought. The progression Mazda made with the 13B in terms of strength and improvements have been S4<S5<S6, with the upper dowel lands increasing in strength every time, as well as stat gears, etc.
Well, I just received a new S4 TII rear iron, and was very happy to find out that it had the S6-type upper dowel land: Now, being that Mazda now includes their structural updates on newly-produced parts, is it possible that a newly purchased set of S4 stationary gears would now be heat-treated similar to the S5? Are there other updates that would be carried into new runs of this older engine? |
i don't know about the gears, but when the rx8 came out, the rotors have a cut on both sides for high rpm clearance. http://www.racingbeat.com/Mazda-Perf...rtNumber=10040
they have since started doing this to ALL of the rotors. |
and supposedly Mazda has gone back to 3 piece apex seals, if the rumors are true. Which means we can probably expect 3 piece seals on whatever rotary they end up coming out with next.

how much $ did that cost?

I got mine from redtail-racing.com, They have a few S4 and S5 TII parts laying around that are brand new.
Nobody else know anything about stat gear or oiling updates on new runs of engines? |
