Intercooler Testing
 

Has anyone done any ACTUAL testing to find pressure and temperature drop readings on the intercooler kit in their car? A lot of people claim SMIC is better than FMIC and vice versa, but has anyone tested the intercooler they have? Real testing beats BS speculation any day. Post your mods and the effect of your intercooler.

The only intercooler testing I have seen is on Rx7 Fashion under the intercooler pulldown.

I've seen it. The concern with their design seems to be pressure drop due to the end tank design, I would imagine. I've seen posts on Steve Cirian's website about private test data with the M2 intercoolers.

Dave @ RX-7 Fashion sez 1.9 psi pressure drop during above test. Pretty good, I think, considering a 10 degrees above ambient outlet temp. XS Engineering intercooler of similar design is no longer available.

What is a good pressure drop? I mean no drop is good but what is the extent and what fmics give you the least amount of pressure drop?

As Far as Pressure drop around 1 psi is good 1.9 is a little high
Is far a testing data A old issue of Turbo had Adams rx7 in it and he states that his shop (a&l racing) Tested the XS FMIC and found on avg. it dropped temps 75c. This is pretty much the same thing as The fashion FMIC but the piping is a little different. Adam has always used the XS FMIC on his 7 and has made over 700hp with it.

SCC did testing of the M2 Medium and Large vs. the stock IC for their Project RX-7, you can look it up.

Has anyone tried the SP Engineering Digital Intercooler Temperature thing?
