Intercooler pricing

I am new to Rx7's but not new to the car scene. Excuse my ignorance, but why are intercooler kits almost double the cost of other cars (240's, Supra's, Evo's etc..?) I mean, less piping with these V-mounts combined with a smaller core than most which to me seems like less material used for manufacturing. Why the high cost though?

I have no idea about IC kits for other cars, but trying to fit something into an FD engine bay is not easy. You can find cheap ebay/rotary-works kits for ~$700 but they will most likely not fit perfectly out of the box and will require additional work to fit properly. Most kits do not take into consideration AC piping/AC condenser...and you will have to remove AC or make new lines/re-position the condenser etc...

You get what you pay for.

Since the 240's and EVO's are a more popular platform there is maybe more products on the market hence more competition...

I can maybe only think of a few V-mount setups that you can buy from US makers such as Defined Autoworks...

Greddy, HKS, Knighsports, Revolutiom, RE Amemiya are all made in Japan and by the time you get them to the US they will cost a lot

AFAIK some of the Japanese made v-mount kits are a drop in solution that retain the AC, (Airpump also maybe)...hence the higher price
