HOW TO: DIY Profec B switch
 

OK, I noticed quite a few old threads whre people were wondering about how to do this. Well, I found the solution here in (GASP) Honda-Tech!

Here's the breakdown. The GReddy Profec B has a select button on its front panel that switches between your high and low boost settings. GReddy does sell an RF style switch that you can velcro to your steering wheel for easy access without taking your eyes off the road; however, it comes at a hefty price of around $128.00!!! :eek:

The write up in the link I'll provide shows how you can do the same thing with a wired switch for less than $8.00. (I think I'll be getting turbo wrap for my GT40 with the $120.00 I just saved. LOL)

I was actually able to save about $2.50 by not buying a momentary switch. I wired my setup to my previously unused cruise control set switch. Sneaky little Hobbitses!!

SWEET!! I have been wondering about this as I was able to get the mono plug to work but experienced the "shorting out".

Right now I am planning to hook it to another fog light switch in the center console of the FD so that I can tap it from low to high boost.

I am going to try to modify the top so it no longer looks like the "fog" light but instead something more appropriate but sublte.

I do have another question. If you look at GReddy's OEM remote switch, you see a small light. I think this lets you see if your on low or high setting. I wonder if there is some way to wire a light to match the indication on the profec b (ala a light molded into the fog light switch to indicated low (green) versus high (red) boost.

I'm not sure how its wired but I was worried that a simple wired light would get unsynced if you turned the car off while the Profec was in high setting but the light would turn off and indicate low once you restarted the car.

Any ideas?

Nope, the light ony turns on to let you know you're pressing the button.

My DIY switch:

Move hand four inches from shifter. Press select button. Price = free. Labor = zero. :)

Actually, I don't understand why anyone would have the need to quickly and frequently change between boost settings. Beats the hell out of me.

Launch at low boost, then switch to high boost once in 2nd gear.

I have the profec b mounted in the glove box so it would be easier for me to run a switch to occasionally toggle between the settings.
