HELP ME... new Gredy Type S BOV, no change...
 

I just installed my new Greddy Type S BOV (with Greddy adaptor kit) and went for a drive.

I don't hear anything of the damned thing, not with windows open , not with windows closed.
Yeah ok, there is "something", but it ain't more than stock.
The last few weeks I had disconnected the return from the stock BOV to the airbow and let it blow of free, now that's something else.

I already tried different settings on the BOV without any result.

Do I have to do something with the BOV before running it or what?(losening it up for the first time by pressing the cilinder??? just a sugggestion)

Any quick info would be appreciated as there is a very big event coming up tomorrow and my one and only mod isn't working properly (I got the BOV in about 2 hours ago)

Did you hook it to the CRV instead of the BOV hose? If you have an FD with the stock Twins, you might have hooked the Greddy up to the wrong part. Did you hook the BOV up to manifold pressure? Did you drive the car under boost?

yeah, it's connected to the hose coming from the Y piece , not the hose coming from the back. Basicly I just changed the Greddy out with the stock BOV (which I had already disconnected and vented to the air with lots of noise).

I drove the car for half an hour, between 2500 and 7000 rpm but the only thing I hear is a very small "sneeze" when changing gears. Could the cilinder be stuck due to some longer time in stock? IBefore installing it I tried to push the cilinder in, but that was very hard.

UPDATE:

today I tested some different settings (soft-> hard)

when I pull the throttle body's cable (gas) the BOV goes off (when I let it loose). So the thing works.

Bottom line is that it psssshhh'es but I whatever rpm I let go the gas it never gets that metalic sound.

Today at the event there was a Subaru WRX 2002 model beside me with (I could have sworn) thesame BOV. Whenever he got of the gas (even if he gave just a touch to the pedal) it went of like hell.

Mine doesn't.

BUT, I noticed something else. When checking different settings I looked into the BOV to see if the piston was moving. It did. But it opened one time, then nearly closed and then opened up a little bit again.

Think that's kinda weird , no?

Damned, I'm really disppointed in this ting as the venting the stock BOV gave such an effect. After investing 350 euros (that's about 400$) it doesn't work as I hoped. I'm even thinking of selling it right away.

You just need to adjust the spring some more, the softer setting makes the BOV open easier try setting it all the way soft so that the screw comes out then it should do it just fine but it might leak under load test it out and keep turning it towards hard until right before the point it doesnt make the sound you want. It took me quite awhile to adjust the BOV just right on my car, but the car I have it on doesn't flow nearly as much air as a stock RX-7 so I had to have it set really soft.

Yeah that's what I did now, it's allmost as soft as it can get, and yes. I could say that the sound I'm looking for was there (I know how it is supposed to sound because a friend had it on his car also. that was a VW Golf G60 at 0.8bar and it made noise!!!)

I don't know what to think of the cilinder opening up twice (see previous post) twice after one hit on the gas.

I also noticed that there is some screw taping on the outlet side of the Greddy BOV. anyone knows what it's for?

I'm a little worried about this though because it make sme think taht my primary turbo is not delivering the presure it should be delivering.

When I shift at 6000rpm or more the BOV does make more of the metal sound.

I"ll be in for a boost gauge I guess to check this. Is Defi an accurate brand?

ive seen 2 defi mechanical guages and they both read at least 5psi in the box!

so no good you mean?? (sorry I'm European, so not familiar what the "inside USA-talk" ;-)

I found a guy posting in another forum with thesame Type S BOV and he removed the small spring in the BOV housing (there are 2,big and small)

ok first I had this in my car with the other engine... the piston moving up and down is just flutter, which is normal its just air moving back and forth.... second there is 2 nipples on the type s, the bottom one and the top one... which one do you have it connected to???? and where are you running your vacuum from????

I'm running the upper vacuum line (so the big connection on top of the BOV (as indicated on the instruction)

I'm also using the original lines as the stock BOV.
I got the complete Greddy adaptor kit with the BOV.

Would it make any difference if I installed another IC in the future and placed the BOV on the hard IC lines?

I did the test with only the big spring, but even at idle it doesn't close of (piston open blow'in air). So that wasn't an option to go for. Although now I think of it. At idle there is no back pressure on the vacuum line side to close it..
Maybe I"ll do the test again next week.

with hard pipes it will really make a difference on the sound but im guessing you have a boost leak somewhere.... the type s should sound nice and loud at almost any pressure over 0...is it on an fc or fd???

it's on a FD.

I've not yet installed a boost gauge (I know, that should have been my first mod) but when the stock bov was on last week it realy made a lot of noise, now it doesn't anymore.

The car pulls really hard, so I'm not really worried about that.

I'll go for the boost gauge next...

is there any way you could take a pic of it and send it over here???
