Has anyone planted a S5 into a S3 13B?

Hey gonna do a rebuild soon and lookin at my options. I REALLY want to get a S5 N/A 6=port and drop it into my GSLSE and use my SE fuel injection (intake, injectors). Problem: Fitting my lower intake to the S5 intake ports. How can I do it???? Do I have to use the lower intake from the S5 shortblock or not?

Second. I achieve about 20 MPG currently in my SE and want to do the same or better if I go S5. BUT I was considering getting my 5/6 ports ported so I would get a wicked powerband and only suck gas after 4000 RPM. Has anyone ported just the 5/6 ports? Is it worth the money performacne vs. cost?

Thanks

what problem are you having fitting the SE manifold on the S5 engine?

if you look at the "block", the S3 and S5 port openings are pretty different. And is there any response about performance VS. price for porting JUST the 5/6 ports???

If you plan to use your GSL-SE manifolds and FI, why not just do the rebuild with S5 rotors and counterweights in the S3 block?

Changed my mind. Going S5 shortblock, Pineapple sleeve inserts, S4 intake, S3 front cover to be able to mount. MIGHT get 5/6 ports ported....

I just picked up a S5 to drop into my 85 GSL-SE too. Had some of the same thoughts as you. Keep up with the posts on this and I'll do the same once I get started. Where you at in WA?

quite a while ago I built a winter car for a friend of mine and it was an 85 Gsl-se. We used the S5 block with the S4 intake and computer/ignition system. We did very much the same thing as mentioned above.... also used the S4 cover, pineapple sleeves, air pump actuated aux. ports, full racing beat exhaust. The block was street ported with a very large port on the auxiliaries.

The car ran great and very good power in all ranges, the ignition needed some tuning to get there though.

this is a great set up in an S3!!
