goal of 300hp/350 torque
hi i currently have a t2 waiting for a rebuild. i have a simple goal of about 300 hp but i would like 350 torque...just something about flooring the car and being stuck to the seat going into warp 5 really appeals to me. can anyone tell me what kind of mods i would need to get more torque than horsepower? thanks a lot!

You could always go for the 351W mod... :D
Seriously though... you're talking about an engine that makes peak torque around 3000-3500 and peak HP around 5000rpm. Not very rotarylike. |
Making 350rwtq on a rotary with only 300rwhp is probably next to impossible. I made 352rwtq but that was with 365rwhp, and that much torque at that hp number is impressive compared to other dynoes i've seen

Give me some of that crack you're smoking! :smoker:
Torque means displacement...something the rotary engine doesn't have unless you're going to convert to a 3-rotor 20B or a 4-rotor? -Ted |
Do you realize that horsepower is approximated by torque*rpm/5200? In other words, for an engine to have a higher torque rating than hp, the torque curve would have to be falling off pretty rapidly above 5000 rpm or so. Ever drive an 80s Chevy V-8 (or a 90s ford or dodge - ANY engine, lol), they completely run out of breath above 4500 rpm or so, because the torque curve falls off rapidly.
Why not go for the 350 lb-ft of torque and the 370+ hp to go with it? |
Yout CAN make 350 ft lbs of torque and 300 hp... BUT WHATS THE POINT??? if you want that go build a v8... IF YOU WANT 350 ft lbs of torque GO HAVE A 150 lbs FLYWHEEL MADE AND A LARGE FRONT COUNTER WEIGHT... But whats the point???

thanks you guys have told me a lot...well i guess the next best thing would be a nice fat torque band. does anyone know what kind of mods could give that.
