filling water jacket around exhaust port

I have some housings in gorgeous condition that I would like to reuse, but they are pitted much like shown in this pciture (from Mazdatrix). Is it possible to fill the water jacket with Devcon much like you do when building periphereal ports?

Hi.

I wouldnt recommend filling the collant passage at the exhaust port.
The heat is extreme there and blocking the passage will cause the metal to warm up to much ,also the engine will be running high temps and over heating.

When the water passage is blocked on a PP on the intake, the difference isnt as big.The reason being the blocked passage is on the opposite side of the engine, far away from where combustion heat is created.

Hope it helps a bit ?

I can weld aluminum but wouldn't touch trying to weld
in that location, welding corroded aluminum is almost impossible
it would be like trying to weld styrofoam with a torch!

I thought the housings were cast iron.......

not the rotor housings

Welding might be an idea....i havent though of that!

It might warp it though, running the tig gets pretty hot. i had an AL manifold heliarced to allow more room for porting, and it came back all bent, i had to have it resurfaced.

Quench with plenty of water it should be alright. You can TIG weld holes from dent pullers in car panels without warping, so something as large as a rotor housing should be ok.
