A/F ratio before the turbo.

Hi all,
Has anyone sucessfully set up and run a wideband sensor on each rotor (ex the port but before the turbo) , and have them run continuously ? With the availability of good , affordable WB controllers , I am thinking of installing a pair (, one per rotor) . Would the sensor be able to survive the exhaust heat before the turbo.

They would continuously be in direct contact with the flame along with the excessive heat.........so I would say no. As for 1 egt probe per rotor, yes.

What ^^ he said. Dual EGT's, one A/F in the DP so it'll live.

i agree with above, i had a wideband in one of my primaries (about 4 inches from the port) while i was running NA (open headers) and it got smoked. adding a turbo after the WB will make it even worse! there may be some way you can infer your AFR on a per rotor basis by using a WB in the down-pipe along with 2 thermal-couples in each primary right near the port. that or use 2 turbos, one per rotor!!!

at steady state your timing should not casue temperature differences from one EGT to another (assuming both plugs and wires are in equal condition). any difference in EGTs should be due to slight bias in AFR. to do a one shot fine tune, it may help to disconnect the trailing plugs to eliminate that variable. then you can adjust the trims on your injector drivers till the EGTs match. you might want to run this at a few points (PWM duty cycles) to check for linearity. if you can't get it to match up across the board you might have a minor fluid flow issue in the rail. i would imagine this would be largely insignificant however.
