Engine placement comparison

This question is for those who've completed a 13B-RE or 13B-REW swap. Where does the shortblock of the engine sit relative to the 13B-DEI or 13BT engine in the stock FC engine bay? Even after adapting new mounts, would the new engines sit in the same place?

thats what the mounts are for!

so short answer, yes. if you use proper mounts, the engine will sit in exactly the same place. For the record, no i dont ahve a rew, but i have 1.5 of them, and the mounting pattern is similar.

right, but with the REW, welding a new crossmember seems like the way to go. I guess you just have to weld it in the correct place so that the engines sits in the same place as the engine you're replacing.

the way i do mounts is usually do a CAD drawing and CNC cut a flange for the engine and a flange for the chassis mounting locations, then mount both, place the engine where I want it, and tack a piece of angle or whatever in between, then take the mounts back off and box them up or weld in tubes or whatever needs to be done to make it fit, look good, and of course be strong. I use 2.5" urethane rod from mcmaster-carr to make the soft parts.
