Engine Mount Material

I have been researching materials to build a few sets of engine mounts and would like some expert opinions. The design is pretty simple: a rubber rod drilled through, with large washers on each end and grade 8 hardware running through.

My criteria is as follows:

1. Cost - I need to make 3 sets, so the insulating material needs to be fairly cheap.
2. Mounts will be holding down at least one 600whp engine - they need to be robust.
3. Mounts should be substantially stiffer then stock rx7 mounts, but not solid.

And my questions:

1. Rod diameter: I was thinking 3" rod diameter. Could I get by with something smaller like 2 to 2-1/2" maybe?

2. Material: Shore 90A Polyurethane would be preferred, but its a little too pricey for 3 sets of mounts. Shore 75A Neoprene - a fraction of the cost but obviously softer. Shore 60D Polypropylene cheap and hard, but is it too hard? Does any one have experience with these materials? What would you suggest?

We will give you a discount when buying three sets, just email sales@banzai-racing.com . Ours have already been designed and have internal locknuts so that the hardware doesn't loosen up when the mounts are compressed.

I appreciate that. Your engine mounts look great! However, I need one set of mounts for a non-rotary application and the dimensions will be different.

We have the material in stock and make them here. We can make them to a custom length.
