engine internals question
why are the center and outer plates iron? do they have to be?
does the rotor housing have an iron insert where the apex seal scrapes like a cylinder liner or is it all aluminum? |

so then it would be possible to make a one piece block as long as you can install the rotors, right?

This was not uncommon back in the day for boingers... many WWII airplane engines had hard-chromed cylinder liners. Then again they were expected to basically run WOT for thousands of hours between overhauls. |
actually some of the old boingers are a steel tube and a another flat peice of steel bent around and welded up to be the water jacket
