engine front hub and roller barring

I got my engine back from the builder but he didn't install the front engine hub? I know about the roller barring inside the front cover and how important it is to keep it in place. My dilemma is, I installed the hub and rotated the engine on the stand and felt it drop down a small amount so it seated something also I understand the hub protrusion behind the "E" shaft should not exceed around 240 mm or there is a problem with the thrust barring/roller barring. The measurement is hard to make from within the hub and it looks like its still over 240 mm is there a way to get the thrust/needle barring to slip back. Does anyone have some ideas to offer up while doing this project. I am not sure the rollers are incorrectly.

The best way to know if they are in correctly is to take the front cover off and look. The instructions for doing that are in the Haynes manual, as well as the factory service manual. If you feel that it is too complicated a task, maybe you should consult the mechanic who did the engine work. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO START THE ENGINE WITHOUT VERIFYING THAT THE BEARINGS ARE INSTALLED PROPERLY.

(Oh, and it is spelled b-e-a-r-i-n-g)
