E85

Ok, after searching the forums I found a few threads on this and many turn off topic, but whenever an E85 powered rotary is discussed, someone post a reply like, "it would work but what would be the point." ...to me, E85 would be perfect for a rotary as the benefits of E85 offset the problems that many turbo rotary's have. These benefits include cooler running, and higher octane. These benefits seem like good protection against detonation. What's the deal? What am I missing?

As a side note, one of the disadvantages to running E85 is the need to rebuid the fuel system and retune, which is a task FD owners should be familiar with :) .

All you need is bigger fuel pumps, a diffrent lamdba-sensor and fine tune the ignition.

This is a big issue in Sweden, because the gasoline price for 1 litre is 12kr ~ 1.6$/L which is alot.
The E85 however is 7kr/L ~ 1$/L a bit less then gasoline but still profitable.

Any fuel that contain a lot of cooling properties do wonders in a rotary motor.
That's why they love alcohol/methanol fuels.
