Dynamic balancing. What a pain.

Hey guys,
So just because I had some free time in the shop today I decided to make some calls to see if I could find a shop locally that would even be willing to attempt to dynamically balance one of my spare ( and there are many ) eccentric shafts up to 10K+ just for the hell of it. Not only will they not attempt it, but what I generally took from the conversations was downright fear of the prospect. I mean I'm not saying it's easy, and I get that it's different, but seriously. If it fails they've lost some time and made some money, and maybe learned something. If it works then I've got a nice well balanced e-shaft, and they now have something else to offer their customers. I even offered the use of my MFR catalog which has the balancing procedure necessary weights and general specifications to do it correctly. I really didn't realize how scary rotary engines were to the general automotive performance community until I made these calls. Well I guess it's time to call CLR, and see how much they want. might as well get some rotors lightened and notched as well while I'm at it. On an up side I think I found a CNC machine I'll purchase. I like when local business close down. Equipment is sold at crazy cheap prices.

May I suggest Mandeville AutoTech in Spartanburg, SC.

There is also a shop (non rotary) here in Phoenix that does balancing, and another one that does clearancing.
