Downpipe Question.

I'm new to the whole RX7 Scene and the turbo setup scene. In fact I have not even bought my RX7 yet. But I wanted to know. what would i need to do to install a 3" down pipe. on an rx7, im assuming you would have to do everything back after installing it as 3" as well but what about before the down pipe. will a 3 inch downpipe connect to whatever is stock, or do i need to change something else out. is so what is it.

Thanks.

If you want to talk about how low my knowledge is, DONT. I have to learn somewhere. And I want to learn before i go buying my car, not knowing what to do, and fawking something up, along with wasting my money.

welcome to the board. :)

hypothetical car, so your answer is it's going to depend on which generation Rx-7 and the turbine outlet flange, the wastegate setup and possibly a few other measurements.

you're right. from an all-out power and flow perspective, it makes no sense going with that size downpipe and then using smaller pipe for the rest of the system. however, it is done for varying reasons. if i recall, someone did it for noise control issues.

one last little comment, when asking for help, humility is probably going to get you better results. i mean, you're going to act like you're going to act, but it's just something to consider.

well on a 1993+ with the stock tt setup, you can do a 3" downpipe and the rest back, with those turbos, then.
