Does anyone go to Costco to fill up their gas? I've never heard of anyone w/ a FD going to Costco to get gas. Some have said that Costco gas is *THE* worst, thus the concern/thread.

actually gas companies trade gas with each other when they run out. so you are never sure when you fill up.

Mine went there quite often... There is nothing wrong with there gas.. Just a few too many people on this board are full of shit!

BTW- My 01 M coupe thats rated @ 315bhp made 300bhp BONE STOCK on costco gas...

You didnt know that Tecron actually does something??? Costco gas is fine. It doesnt matter where you fill up, you never know what kind of gas your gonna get.

I asked the driver of the tanker truck that was filling up the tanks at my local Costco in Tucson. He said they get it from all over the place depending where it was the cheapest.

I've filled up 5 vehicles at Costco (including the FD3S) for years and never had ANY problems. Gas is gas is gas. I toss in a bottle of Techron in each vehicle every year just for grins. Never had any fuel injector problems either.

the gas they offer is bad. if u drive none stock car. Me and my friened went to drive one day with his Z06 (with complete head,header,CAM) and when we pull to up hill in 5 gear . we heared small ping sound from engine and we suddenly loose power(computer retard timing) . and he had costco gas . their gas should be ok for stock car. but it doesnt take that much knock to destroy ur apex seal. so I wont take this chance

My wife filled up the FD at Costco and the car started to act funny. Bad idle, lopeing. Turned out to be a combination of problems, I blamed the gas. THis time the gas was not the problem.

I think that given the nature of the FD to self destruct we should use the highest quality gas available. The "cheapest" gas available may or may not be the highest quality. Why chance it for 10 cents a gallon.

Just my 10 cents. :)

All the M3's have been rated at 333 HP. And cannot be dynoed b/c of the computer not letting it go past a certain speed without a certain amount of airflow.

Gas prices are still extremely high here, even at Costco. Anyways, I filled up 14 gallons for $30 today, and threw in a $10 bottle of that Techron stuff. $40 in gas, ouch.:eek:

My point was that...That's not a factual statement b/c they can't be dynoed. He's lieing about the stock HP and his contribution to the bearing costco gas has compared to others should be throw out...

lololololol, but anyways. Sams club around me has the cheapest gas, $1.70, right after our own little shitty gas chrisis (pipeline break in tucson). Everywhere else is AT LEAST $1.90
I love it, but don't have another RX-7 yet, so I don't have to worry about the quality, plus they only have 87 and 91, so when I get a turbo II, I won't go there for the octane rating, not because of the gas quality.

This is absolutely correct. Just because Costco gas is cheaper does not mean it is lower quality and, BTW, the octane level is regulated so must be as advertised. Costco gas is usually cheaper than anywhere else because they buy on the "spot market". Costco continually monitors the wholesale gas market buying from the wholesaler with the lowest prices.

Purchasing on the spot market also has other impacts on the price of gas at Costco. Spot market prices go up sooner when gas prices are rising throughout the industry and come down sooner when gas prices are falling. That explains why you may see Costco prices temporarily higher or lower than other gas stations during times when gas prices are fluctuating. When gas is plentiful and prices are stable, spot market prices will always be the lowest and therefore so will Costco prices.

didn't he say m coupe... which is a Z3 body w/ an M3 engine? it is rated at 315 hp because even though it has the same engine the car has a shorter exhaust which "isn't long enough to release all those horses" (Vicki Butler-Henderson from Top Gear or 5th Gear... British TV program)

anyway i heard a few horror stories about costco gas so i'll stick to chevron and shell

The pinging isn't going to come from costco gas or not, it will come from the octane. The compression of your engine should be dictating what octane of gas you should buy. If you guys are so worried about predetonation use some lead additive, its the cheap way of raising octane.

You can only do that if you have a downpipe/midpipe, otherwise, it'll eat out the cats.

The gas really shouldn't be the problem I wouldn't think. Pluss I belive all gas companis have to have theres be checked by the weight and mesurments to make sure there mixtures are set properly and that water or what not is being added to the gas. I've always used cheveron in my FD sence I've owned it for the most part I've used others just bc a cheveron wasn't around, but the reson why I use chevron the most is bc I have a corp. card thats for them. I mean yes every now and then there can be a slip up in the gas but thats one of those low lickly to hapen kind of things.
