Bridgeport Flooding while Running
 

Well i have a strange problem with my new built motor, when you start it cold it will start fine, then if it sits there idling like a normal BP does it will start to flood the rear rotor then it stops running on the rear rotor IE Flooded, but the front rotor is still keeping the motor going. I no that it is firing the plug and can smell the EXTREAMLY fuel vapors coming from the Exhuast. Plus the engine will backfire easy when it is doing this, another sign of fuel in the exhuast.


There so far is to ways i have found to keep this from happening or fix the problem after it started to do its flooding.

1. Start it and Dont let it idle on its own, keep it rev'ed up 2-3K and then start driving it untill it gets somewhat warm, It doesnt have to be warmed up all the way.

2. If it has all ready flooding then i just have to drive it a little and it will stop it after a few min.

There is NO problems when the motor is warmed up and it will start evertime.
A few things i have checked or no

The compression while cold is about 115X3 Front and 110X3 Rear
The compression while Hot is about 125X3 Front and 122X3 Rear

These are Appox numbers, each rotor face can be 1-2 pounds off

The Fuel Injectors have been cleaned not to long ago with good patterns and numbers.

The motor only has about 200-300 miles on it and everthing was replaced inside the motor so this just maybe a breakin thing.

I have heard that BP are bad about flooding and fouling plugs out, that is the only thing i havent done is change the plugs and wires yet

Just wondering if anyone has had these problems before

hmmm thats a odd problem.ill have to give that one some thought....

what plugs are you using?

Stock NGK's, but they have about 5K or a little more on them

I am going to buy the RX7.com racing plugs when i go to tune it

What ECU are you running? I would just take some fuel out of your water temp correction map in the warmup range and change the plugs. That should fix it.

EDIT: I see you have a PFC w/datalogit. This should be simple.

I am not the best at the powerFC so I didnt even think about that, I will take to a friend of mine that is the Power FC GURU (Chuck W.) about how much.
