boost controllers
anyone using the Apexi AVC-R? if so how do u like it and anyone else recommend any other controllers?

I reccomend a mechanical boost controller. Shit, just make one yourself even. There's no reason to spend all that $ for an electronic one that can malfunction. Just get a good mechanical one and mount it somewhere near you in the car.

I have the turbo xs MBC and never had a prob with it just set it @ 10psi or whatever and forget about it.

I made a dual stage controller using 2 Grainger ball and spring valves coupled with a 3 way solenoid valve. Mounted a switch in cabin which allows me to switch between low or high boost. For the 3 way solenoid valve I used one of those emission solenoids off of a 13B. I think there are like 4 or 5 of them sitting next to the oil filler neck.

i have the avcr and i love it. it does take a whiel to figure out how to get it to control boost but after u get it figured out you understand at what rpm and in what gear you want how much boost. for example if you have tractiuon issues in first gear then just turn the boost down in first then slowly increase it in second and by third give it full. if you are gonna play with it and want two completly different boost patterns at the push of a button then get the avcr. if you wanna set it and forget it dont. it has self learning and adjustable duty cycle and everythinhg you could want in a boost controller. i like the fact that you can make it creeep in setting a to x lbs of boost then switch to setting b and make it do soemthing complety diffferent.
