best gauges???

any opinions??? Not the ones that cost $300 eithier.. What about blitz bl gauges ??

relvinnian 07-15-02 04:01 AM

DEFI guages for the price.

93redFD 07-15-02 04:08 AM

is there any gauges that look similar to the oem guages?? Orange>?

93redFD 07-15-02 04:15 AM

when the face is white, does that mean at night time it lights up in blue??? Not tryn to be rice or anything..

CYM GIRL 07-15-02 08:53 AM

I purchased a few Defi gauges recently and they are awesome.

Cypher 07-15-02 09:09 AM

If you want to maintain the OEM look..look into either Omori or the new Defi D-Gauge..they both light up amber like the stock gauges and in day light look pretty darn stock..

White face gauges don't necessairly have to light up blue at night, they may light up green or something else. White face gauges are not necessairly rice, but will really stick out during the day time, if you also consider to go white face gauges for your dash, then it's a different story.

Autometer are by far the cheapest of the gauges, but with that low price, I've heard, comes lower quality of readings...

I bought the Defi-link system, they aren'y overly expensive and work really well..

93redFD 07-15-02 05:46 PM

Im guess that the blitz bl guages are shitty??? The carbonfiber with green readings and a blue blitz light at the bottom, there bad ass guages at night but I dont no about the quality..

Cypher 07-15-02 05:52 PM

I believe the Blitz gauges are fine as well..I just don't like the appearance of them that's all..

Some people buy it for some old world looks or something..not me..:D

actually i think the VDO gauges are cheaper in price then the autometer and have a better reputation.

i'm thinking of putting HKS boost gauge 60mm and 3 vdo gauges (water temp, oil pressure, egt)

Ryde _Or_Die 07-16-02 11:02 AM

I think HKS has some gauges that have orange numbers and they match stock FCs perfect. Not sure what an FDs gauges look like though.

Actually HKS gauges do not light up red nor do they have hte black face...

SPA Technique gauges are nice, light up in either red or green, take up very little space, and are a good deal if you consider that one SPA dual gauge = 2 gauges plus 2 warning lights. The SPA tachometer/spedometer is one of the most useful gauges I have seen to date.

The DEFI gauges are also very good, as are most of the other gauges at the RX-7 Store. The Auto Meter gauges aren't all that great, but they will work for a budget street car.

Anyone know what the size of the oil pressure and temperature gauges are stock in the 3rd gen?

Cypher 07-17-02 08:52 AM

I'm gonna guess either 50 or 52 MM..I've got a couple of 52MM Defi gauges and the stock gauges don't look that much smaller..if not dead on..

looking at those spa guages u just posted would it be worth it to get that guage that has two EGT's and put one on each rotor?

RotoHusker 07-17-02 01:04 PM

Anyone know anything about these ???

Yes, if you have a standalone EMS with individual injector trim, then you can tune each rotor individually. Many aircraft engines have a CHT (Cylinder Head Temp) gauge which gives a readout for each cylinder, or an overall readout. You can order an Aircraft Spruce catalog for free to check these out, along with a lot of other cool stuff that you don't see at most automotive performance shops. I guess their secret is out, because I see that they now offer a race catalog.

BTW, note that most aircraft have a 24v electrical system, so read the fine print before you order any aviation electrical components for your car.

so i will be putting a haltech e6k in my car. does that have a individual injector trim feature that u were talkin gabout? and if so i guess it would make the motor run better/longer. by getting both rotors to almost the same? see what i am trying to say or ask?

get a catalog from westach engineering . Here's a page from their catalog

Yes, the E6K has injector trim and phasing for sequential fuel injection (SFI). The rear rotor always runs hotter, so you could compensate for this difference by tuning the rotors individually. I'm sure that you can get more info from the Haltech Jihad if you post in the Haltech subforum on this site.
