im gonna say the greddy... only on certian cars tho MR2's and Rx7's mainly

kyle@insight 07-06-03 11:38 PM

Greddy. Sounds good, easy to install when you buy the Greddy Elbow for FDs. Just an overall nice setup.

RotorMotor 07-07-03 12:31 AM

is there any difference between having the BOV before or after the intercooler?

R-magic 07-11-03 05:15 PM

blitz....and mount it after the intercooler.....close to the throttle body.....

Whitesmoke 07-12-03 01:04 AM

I went with greddy but only because you left out the best BOV on the market. you forgot the TurboXS type-H. 110 Db of rush to the head. or if you really like loud like me. you could go with the Type-H RFL. guess what the RFL stands for. Now im going off of the 3 diffrent BOVs ive heard on The Z31 300ZX turbos i dont know about for a RX7 i just recently got into them.

Maxthe7man 07-12-03 02:07 AM

Tial is nicely constructed, and is a machining work of art, however their spring range needs work for a rotary, and a ported rotary with lower vacuum would be even more of mismatch, now they have come out with a lighter spring, but its not a progressive spring, its linear so the bov doesn't open gradually, with the oring style seal, it kind of pops open, even with the light spring, you still get some surge and flutter till the valve opens up.. To get mine to work right, I ditched the tial spring and using one I came up with at work..Max

It would make more sence to me to have the BOV before the intercooler. If you think about it, the less air going through the intercooler, the cooler the air will be when it comes out the other side because there would be less heat in the intercooler from more air. So if are putting air through the intercooler that is going to just get blown off by the BOV once it gets to the other side, arn't you sort of wasting your intercooler cooling potential by forcing more air through it? That other guy said put the BOV after the intercooler though so I dont really know.

Hey Max,

I've seen you and others say that about the TiAL before. I just got mine in May, soI assume it is the lighter spring you mention.

The only time I hear any surge is when I let off from VERY light throttle at low RPM. The MAP at this point is well below zero, and I think any surge at this very low level can't possibly damage the compressor. It doesn't take much for it to open, even normal driving in traffic it opens each time I shift.

The reason I chose it is it's huge, it dumps a lot of air, which I need with a big turbo. It is very well made and looks better than the rest (I think). Colour choice too, though I have a silver one.

It is also very quiet, which I'm sure would disappoint this fool.

Interesting thread. All the guys that want their BOV as some sort of noise-making toy never even mention the TIAL.

Then, all the guys running big turbo's, USE the Tial.

Mine is exceptional. The results are the same as with Tyson. Can't say I've ever had any compressor surge, and its very responsive and opens even under light loads. :)

Unless your running more than 500WHP one HKS SSQV is going to do you just fine.

es 08-29-03 01:46 PM

Greddy type R or Tial.

Blitz is crap
HKS SSQ is crap
Greddy type S is crap
Apexi is crap
SX is crap

If the BOV makes more noise & moves less air then it's crap!

Northwest FD3S 09-01-03 08:35 PM

Blitz

I have 2 x Blitz single stage (older) BOV, and there are very nice. I have dyno'd my car at 482rwhp with a greddy T78 bored out to actually be a T80 now with a garrett wheel, and the Blitz handle the power great. I can post a pic if you want to see the setup.

Why Is the Greddy Type-S crap? I just got one, yet to be Installed.

es 09-02-03 08:46 AM

It's small & wont vent any more air then the stock one.

baboon's a$$ 09-06-03 02:58 PM

My sheepdog is the best. HUGE piston in that sucker. Screw all those teeny weenie bov's.
