Anyone use Idemitsu oil
Hey guys, I saw a few rotary shops selling Idemitsu oil. I was wondering if anyone likes it? I use castrol gtx 20w-50, and that has been costing me 3 bucks a quart. I found a website selling Idemitsu for 5 bucks a quart. I might consider switching

I bought a bottle of their premix, turns out it's semi synthetic. I don't know about the crank stuff, didn't buy that. I'd rather use Red Line or the motorcycle stuff. I could allways get 60z bottles of Lucas semi synthetic at pep boys and never have to measure as I pour it in to.

I use Idemitsu, mostly because they say it is the only 'clean burning' synthetic oil, and the fact they are specifically engineered for the rotary engines. Good enough to win the Lemans, good enough for me.

Mazdatrix sells Idemitsu also http://mazdatrix.com/q-supply.htm
I use the pre mix. Haven't gotten around to trying the motor oil yet. I'm sure it works. |
I use Klotz premix - no metering pump. I also use Castrol 20w-50 for the engine (what KD Rotary uses when adding engine oil). My Yahmaha dealer stocks it. I hear very good things about thier oils.

Klotz is nice (pure synthetic clean burn) and you get two uses from one bottle. There should be a motorcycle store close to most people. You can even special order it by the gallon to.
Lucas is ok. It's only semi synthetic but it claims a clean burn, is easily available in Auto Zone or possible a similar auto parts store by you and best of all it come in 6oz bottles (1 bottle/per tank). Redline is good. Pure synthetic but I can't remember if the bottle syas low ash and clean burn but it worked well. I beleive it's 12oz, so you get two uses but would have to check. Idemitsu have it but havn't tried it yet. It's the cheapest of the four since you two uses for $4 and the rest are $4/per tank fill. I haven't used their crank case stuff which is probably what the poster was actually talking about but even at $5/qt if you can't get it local then you have to add shipping and wait for it to. I would rather use Amsoil myself. |
What about Royal Purple? The price is comparable to Idemitsu, and you can find it at any Pep Boys.

AMSOIL Series 2000 race oil 20W50 only in my car and its great stuff
AMSOIL Saber pre-mix, stuff burns clean, full synthetic and works well at high power levels |
royal purple is expensive as hell, but supposedly you get some hp out of it, and idemitsu is synthetic blend.. i think.. which means it is really SAE (standard)
