? about 13b tension bolts
does ARP make replacment tension bolts that are stronger. i went to the web site and nothing.. but they do have a pic of a 3rd gen drag car. may be i'll give them a call.

No need for stronger tension bolts per se. If anything, put an inch to two inch long, thin coat of silicone RTV or other sealant around the centre of the bolt, let it cure overnight, then use that during assembly. The soft spots inbetween the centre housings and the tension bolt will prevent damage from the bolt splitting and falling out due to vibration at constant, high RPM's.

How thick? Just enough to coat them all the way around? Say, like a couple mm thick?

I'll do this on my next rebuild! :)

I have generally used heat shrink tubing on my tension bolts. It is a harmonic damper that keeps the bolts from fracturing. Same basic principle, immediate use.

I think that the silicone would work better because heat shrink tubing is harder and will not absorb as much vibration. But it would still work better than nothing. I remember reading about the silicone method in Racing Beat's technical manual/catalog once upon a time.

What about this:
Coat the tension bolts with sillicone, let cure -then- Cover/Encapsulate Silicone with Heat Shrink? |

Some of the bolts in the 20B are bigger than the 13B's.
I've used some of the longer ones and cut and re-thread them to fit the 13B. crispeed 87 RX-7 TII 9.204@150.47mph 2600lbs un-tubbed |
What other kind of similar info is in the RB catalog? This seems to be a very useful tip; are there enough others to warrant paying $10 for a shipped catalog?
