3rd gen lim,uim, and tb on a s3 or s4 13b

What modifications to the manifolds and motor need to be done to pull this off? IS there an easier way to do it? I am thinking about doing this mod on a gslse or a s4 motor. Please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Several people have done this....

You will need to slot the bolt holes in the FD UIM and also if you want the ports to match you will need to do significant work to the FD UIM in the way of porting the primaries runners.

I should ask why you are planning to do this for power or asthetics? I have been asking on every forum and have yet to see *dyno* proof that this actually adds power. Just curious if you've seen a chart that I haven't.

I should have said that you need to use a S5 LIM for the best fit... otherwise you will drastically increase the work that you need to do.

Also, I belive HIGGI is making adaptors... I'm just not sure it's worth the effort, unless you are doing it strictly for asthetic purposes.

well i am looking for a way to get the most performance out of a turboed N/A 13b without getting too crazy. The porting i can handle the slotting of the manifolds i can handle and it looking sweet is just a bonus. I saw that a few people making big power were running the 3rd gen manifold so i was curious as to what all it took to do it. Thanks for the input Chris. Anyoe else have any ideas on power increases? Or is there something Chris forgot about?

Cool. FWIW, I did make 470 RWHP on ~96 octance at only 19psi boost with my stock S5 manifold so the FC stuff will work.

However to your point, the FD may be more efficient and provide more power for the same boost level... which is exactly the reason that I'm considering it myself... If no one has done it by the time I'm ready, I will certainly do before and after dyno's to say for sure what power potential that UIM has.

well please keep me informed of your project. Id love to hear about it.

That is some good info thx for the link.

cool...and do let us know how the dyno works out as we are all waiting to see

to make this work on u.s. model rx7's, you have to have a Jspec lim off a s5 for it to fit the FD uim. For some reason the jspec s5 lim lines up better and the bolt holes don't need to be drilled out as much to fit. It's being done to my car right now.

knight1976 12-16-03 10:22 AM

mrb63083 thanks for that info. That is exactly what i am looking for.

mrb63083 12-16-03 02:21 PM

do you not want my t2 stuff?

knight1976 12-16-03 02:45 PM

well if you have your stuff for sale before i find any of this stuff i would take that stuff off of you. I am looking to go this direction eventually but not anytime soon. Your setup is what i am looking to go with first. So yes i am still interested in your setup when you are finished with it. Just let me know when its available.

Thx i actually thought you had forgotten about me :)
