250 hp naturaully aspirated

Hey gurus just wondering if anybody know if we are going to be able to purchase the new RX8 motor which is 250 hp n/a and put in our 2nd or third gen rx7 I think this motoe is bad a$$

Rotortuner 11-07-02 07:45 PM

It sounds like it, Cus i am pretty sure some of the open wheel mazda racers are going to be able to get them, so ya were all hoping.

They have not confirmed that they would be selling them or not as crate engines. This has been a subject of debate because of the license aggrement between NSU and mazda for the use of the rotary. I think that their agreement said that the selling of engines from the manufacturer in the US was a breach because the US rights belong to (or used to) curtiss wright then john deer now RPI (rotary power international) and we arnt sure because the renesis is a very different and redisign of the engine would allow them to sell it by itself. But notice on the engines it says "AUTOMOBILES" because they are only allowed to sell them in cars. The reason why you can get a new engine is because its imported from japan by you. so you are buying it from japan not the USA so therefore it is allowed under the contract. The renesis might change that. The star mazda cars I think those are covered in the for racing use thing. i don't have a copy of this agreement but this is infered by all the info I have collected so don't flame me but correct me if I am wrong alot of this is from my head but alot of it is from real info.

Rotortuner 11-07-02 11:02 PM

Well at sevenstock there was that one mazda race car that had a renesis in it. It wasnt the one in the courtyard but the one out on the street. It was a star mazda type car. So i think as long as we say they are going into a "race" car we might be able to get them. I aggree though with you, we just dont know any thing for sure yet, all we can do is really hope we can get em and tehy wont break the bank.

mmm. thats interesting thanks guys well i guess we are all going to have to wait. so when does this bad a$$ 8 come out anyway

KiyoKix 11-08-02 09:35 AM

Yea the only cars that I know of other than the RX8 that will feature (read:be able to buy) the RENESIS engine is the Star Mazda Series cars (that's gonna be the new standard engine).

twint78 11-11-02 12:32 PM

yeaaaa even less torque to try and throw in a 3rd gen

Node 12-02-02 12:27 AM

It's an N/A 1.3l making 250hp, what the hell do you expect?

Logo 12-02-02 08:11 AM

Exactly! I don't understand what all the complaining I keep hearing about the renesis is all about. I think it's a brilliant motor. Upon it's release, won't it become the most powerful motor per/liter ever produced for public purchase? I believe the title is currently held by the fc20 out of the s2000.

Bridgeported 12-02-02 08:54 AM

S2000: 240hp/2.0L = 120hp/litre
FC3S NA: 160hp/1.3L = 123hp/litre

I am pretty sure the series 5 NA RX-7 still have the title for highest HP/Litre of an NA production car engine.
Why does everyone always say it's the S2000? I guess for piston engines it is, rotaries don't count because it's just not fair :p:

Logo 12-02-02 12:08 PM

Bridgeported, I think that is where I messed up. I wasn't considering the fact that the s2000 only has the most powerful piston engine/liter.

i_piss_on_hondas 12-02-02 12:13 PM

God I bet this thing is going to dominate the na classes in the future even more then they do now ;) there is going to be ALOT of $$$ going into research on that motor though to do so...

Do you have ANYTHING constructive to add to this forum?

rotarygod 12-02-02 03:42 PM

As a little bit of a side note....I heard a rumor from a Mazda representative that about a year after the RX-8 is released here Mazdaspeed will release a turbo'd version of their own. Don't know if it is true but we can only hope.

Why do you ignore the bikes?
Honda fire blade .. 930cc ..... 140bhp
Yamaha R1 .... 1000cc .... 150+ bhp

""!!I am pretty sure the series 5 NA RX-7 still have the title for highest HP/Litre of an NA production car engine. "" quote from Bridgeported..

You also seem to ignor the "volumetric comparison" ratio that would say the 13B is realy a 2.6 litre.

Chronos 12-03-02 04:43 AM

Your a disgrace. And please dont jump on here when we are talking about an amazing engine and go off on your v8 something or other. we really dont care and we dont want to here about it. Oh and if your v8 is so cool, then come out and race me. I would fu@@ you up in a race. and oh ya i am run a 12a with no turbo.

what am i a disgrace to?a rotary engine?well my car isnt a rotary anymore.so no there.

a disgrace to you?who are you?nobody so that would be a big fat no.

come out and race you huh?if you want to trailer yourself down here go for it.im not wasting gas money and time for what we all know will happen anyways.you losing.you would fu** me up huh?how old are you 12?men race boys talk junk.if ur 30 and act like this i feel sorry for you little man.

oh and as far as you winning.hmm, ill hold it in(y'know the laugh).that 100hp of raw power underneath you.i dont think im a match.hahah.i worry more about a honda racing me than you pal.at least he doesnt have to worry about a coolant leak or over heating or the millions of other problems i see posted daily on here, while he is trying to get down the stretch.

ive seen ppl post saying we shouldnt expect so much reliability out of a high hp turbo rotary.255hp is high hp?hmmm.no.that is not high performance power.it is fast but it is not high performance.

i would like to see one day where there isnt a post on rotary troubles.or a post where it is like
'hey, i did this this that and the other.and i havent recieved any porblems."

i see just installed air filters.next day or two days later, i think im way too lean and my engine just detonated.

driving around 2 grenades in a barrel.

so lets be grown up about it.aight?ok.

if i did a rotary swap n/a i would put a 3 rotor n/a.

Logo 12-03-02 02:38 PM

What are you running Rotortuner? BP? PP?

Flamin' NOS 12-05-02 08:24 PM

"a disgrace to you?who are you?nobody so that would be a big fat no."

Who the fuck are you to call him a nobody? Do we all know you? I guess you're a nobody too. Oh, and generally there are spaces between sentences. As soon as you can write literately like a grown man, then you can start throwing around insults about how immature someone is. Also, about the whole unreliable deal, talk to guys like Riceracing when it comes to unreliable rotaries. It's all in the tuning. If you're used to tuning V8's and getting away with being a sloppy fucking tuner and not having to worry about grenading, then you jump into rotaries and all you do is throw money towards going fast forgetting about how precisely everything needs to be tuned, of course you'll have a bad experience. All that happens is the ignorance of people like you keeps fueling the myth that rotaries are unreliable. At least Jimlab isn't an illiterate, ignorant dick when it comes to his V8 project... I can see where he's coming from and the direction he's going. I'm just sick of the whole "V8's are god" sort of propaganda. That's all I hear every day. Fucking shit. Grow up and open your mind.

Rotortuners running a pp 12a with a 48 ida in his rx3 and it's a quick mofo, to say the least.

KiyoKix 12-06-02 08:45 AM

twint78...since you car isn't a rotary anymore why are you on an RX7 forum. Your car is NO LONGER an RX7 anyway...you've took out the heart of the car and the whole reason that is called an RX (did you think they were just to randomly picked letters)...7? Now all you have is a tube chassis type car with an RX7 body on it, but an RX7 it is not...

Rotortuner 12-06-02 12:12 PM

Like flaimin nos said, I run a pp. And if i wasnt a poor college student i would by a 9 inch and cage it and i could go and run against people like jesus padilla next year. But i dont have the money, the engine makes anough pwr though. Any ways i am not going to waste my time with twint78 cus he is in a place here where he shouldent be. He needs to go back to one of his buick forums and talk with his buds.

I had my Gen 1 circuit racer dynoed 3 weeks ago on a dyno that was calibvrated accuratly that week and I was producing 251 rwhp, following that Rohan Ambrose had his done and it produced in excess of 300 rwhp. The dyno is run in Melbourne by a very well respected drag racer who has supported me fantistically throughout this year of racing.

These are naturally aspirated brigdeports, the huge difference between Rohan's and mine is he runs a direct throttle body injection, 2 piece e-shaft and decent seals. So if you want that sort of hp you do not need to wait until the RX8 engines ship!
