23a 4 rotor but what now.

Well I picked up a 23a 4 rotor kit. Its a jeff bruce kit brand new never ran for a pretty good price.
I know that there is only a handful of 12a based 4 rotors in the world and scoot sports fd was pretty impressive.
There is another fd in the states here that has a side port 23a but I fully plan on a full p port since there should be plenty of torque for street-able drive-ability.

Im not sure if I want to run Na full balance and clearance d setup for 12k redline or run a 10k redline with a large turbo and push for a 1000+hp monster and put it into my rx3 or first gen rx7.

I have also debated on selling the thing to finish the 20b in the rx7.

Got any pictures of the ole' 4 rotor setup? I've never seen, much less heard of a 23A.....:drool::drool::drool:

You could always play around with this for a few years.....then if it gets boring do the turbo setup....? Personally, i think it would be insane in either the FB or the RX3. When i think about a pretty serious swap, now that these cars are getting REALLY old, availability of replacement parts always seems to stay on my mind.

Best advice i could give is just take your time. Maybe after a period of time the right decision will present itself....:ponder:

Could you measure the total shaft length for me? My 20B is out of the engine bay right now so I would like to see if there is enough room for the shorter 12a based 4 rotor. My 20b is moved back so if I could still fit this in the same spot without moving my rack would be a plus on a potential future project.

silverfdturbo6port 10-02-13 09:13 PM

Its not much longer. I have my 20b moved back in my fd and it will fit just fine. I compared the two lengths when I first picked it up and I want to say it was only like 60mm longer. I will have to go recheck for ya.
This is for sale in case your interested.

its 25.5 inches long

Damn buying something like this is bad timming for me right now. I was originally planning on buying a kit sometime next year. Thx for the measurments. I just remembered that I had a bunch of 12A parts I can stack and set in the engine bay to get a better idea on fitment.

silverfdturbo6port 10-03-13 08:25 PM

make a offer. Maybe you have some 20b stuff you want to trade?

t-von 10-06-13 06:37 PM

The mods I did to my engine are priceless. ;) But in all seriousness, I would prefer a 13b based kit because then I could resuse alot of my already modified 20b parts to save time and cost.

I agree but then it starts to get long and harder to swap into something small like a rx3 or repu. And this motor is just plain rare.
I prefer the sound and look of a 20b myself. Even though the scoot sports fd sounds amazing!
This is for sale in the 20b section and race parts section.
