13B REW TT Swap?
 

I have an 87 FC3S 13B N/A RX7 right now, and I'm looking into putting the 93+ TT Engine and Transmission in my car. What do you all think? And what kind of major difficulties could I potentially run into? Your input would be great.

Different mounts. So you'll have to fabricate the mounts, a cradle, or buy a conversion kit, and wiring is going suck. Fuel management etc. Please search it's been asked many many times. What are your goals a TII swap would be much easier and would have similar power potential to a point. Welcome to the forum, but you'll prob get flamed by others, as there are dozens of topics regarding this.

The reason I wanna go with the 93+ swap is cuz no ones got it, so it'd be a little unique, as well as eventually upgrade to a larger single turbo, but i would still be able to do that with the TII. Another bonus is that the motors i'm looking at have around 25k miles on them...

Its still doable if you have the time and money, but the NA FC would be more difficult to swap in a 13REW than a T2 swap, and ditch the FD tranny, I've done some research and it seems like a T2 tranny will bolt right up with little modification. FD transmissions don't have crossmembers, I think they run PPF's.

You have 3 options that I would give as an advice:

1.) Sell your NA and get a T2, then swap the motor if you're bored with it.
2.) Get a T2 tranny, there's no way in hell you WOULD WANT to swap the FD tranny in a FC, you're better off buying an actual FD instead.
3.) Get a T2 engine and tranny and forget the whole damn thing.

T2 = Much much easier and cheaper.

Very similar power. - Just do the T2 swap and save yourself a ton of headache.
FD has a completely different mounting setup.
T2 has a very similar mounting setup.

Well, I've decided that I'm going to do the 13B Turbo swap. In fact, I'm ordering the engine, tranny, ecu, wiring harness, and exhaust in January. After that, a turbo swap is in order. Just wondering what turbo to go with?? A lot of people say t3/t4, but I've heard that that's too big... I want something that'll boost fairly low and keep me boosted through my powerband. Any recommendations? And what about tuning? Sorry for the barrage of questions, I'm still pretty new at this...

get the car running well first! worry about turbo swaps later.
