13B-RE ( Cosmo ) vs. 13B-REW ( RX-7 )

They look different, they are in different cars.

Now how much do they have in common and what can be interchanged with out modifications:

Trany, ECU, harnes, intake, exhaust, rotors, housings ... etc etc and what about the size of the ports, the materials used in the engine .....

Basically nothing can...

The Cosmo engines come from automatic transmission cars, so you'll need to "adapt" to a 13B-REW originally manual transmission.

The exhaust sleeves in the rotor housings have stupid inserts on all Cosmo rotaries (even 20B's).

The bearings are all totally different internally, although the 13B-REW rotors should be the lightest.

The 13B-REW runs the highest oil pressure out of any stock rotary engine - ~100psi.

The 13B-REW water pump is "reverse driven" and supposed to be one of the most efficient water pumps on a rotary engine.

The Cosmo secondary intake ports are HUGE - larger than the 13B-REW secondary ports.&nbsp BUT, combine both the secondary with the primary ports, the 13B-REW is most likely "bigger" - the Cosmo primary ports are TINY.

So what does that mean ?

Can i use a FD computer or do i use a FC computer ?

j9fd3s 08-28-02 02:41 PM

if your putting it in an fc it would be easier to use the fc ecu/harness, but the fd ecu is only 2 coil/ignitors and some playing with the cas away (assuming you have an 89+, 88 would be a lot of wiring under the dash)

I've been told to run 13b-Re Secondry plates on my 13BT can it be done? anyone tryed it?

As you guys say the Port size is far bigger and would make a quite massive ports as the standard size is bigger it would mean there would be simalar wall thickness and so can open them out even bigger.
