Son whips dad in closed race

Yea thats right I got my butt handed to me this afternoon from my son who was driving my 760 turob-diesel, I was in a 84 RX7 that we were test driving prior to purcase.

We went to a parking lot after he suggested the race thinking that an older 12A was going to keep up with the Volvo. We had about 1/8 mile of closed parking lot to consume along with additional dirt on the south end, it was for the local ice arena. Anyway we lined up and I dropped my hand as a signal and by the time I got to 2nd he was already into 3rd and coming close to the shutdown... I launched hard in the RX slipping the clutch at 6000 for the first few feet. Felt pretty good but thats about the time I noticed the 760 taillights ahead of me!

He will never let me live that one down!

a 7 losing a drag race to a diesel volvo... I kinda wish I had never heard that.

An RX-7 losing to a diesel is no surprise. They make in spades what rotaries severely lack: torque.

I really liked the fact that you were drag racing a car during a test drive.

So did you buy it?...

You can damn well bet I'da done the same thing. Any time I take a car out for a test drive, I push it to its limits. I'll be driving it like that daily, I'd like to know what I'm buying.

It's one thing to "punch it" and get an idea how the car runs at WOT; however, it's entirely different to be launching a car from a stop. But whatever, if someone wanted to buy one of my cars, they sure as hell wouldn't be drag racing it to get an idea how fast it is.

lol i see your point it would piss me off for someone to test drive my 7 and drag race it...

1RevvinFC3S 07-09-05 10:20 PM

^ And it would piss me off more if they didn't buy it after they dogged the shit outta it.
