s5 convertable vs montecarlo ss

Ok this is what happen , me and my buddy ben were heading to his place in his 89 turbo convertable when I noticed a pair of headlights all over my ass , so I got into the right lane behind a car for him to pass , but he slowed down so I could get back over and go around the car , which I did . When I got around the car i merged back into the right lane and he pulled up beside us and I could see it was a primered black motecarlo ss with a good sounding exaust and a big lobe cam rumble to it . I then started slowing down and so did the ss , thats when I looked at ben and asked can I , he of course said go for it . The ss got a 1/2 car jump on me when I was shifting from 5th to 3rd but by the time we reached 140 mph , we had a 2 car lead on the ss . I then slowed down to the speed limit and the ss went by slowly so we waved at him and give him a thumbs up for a good race but he turned his head the other way and went on . Here is what me and ben found so funny abt the race , THE TURBO IS NOT HOOKED UP IT IS BOOSTING INTO THE ATMOSPHERE !!!! The reason is to keep temptation down and let the motor get broke in properly ( it only has abt 900 miles on it scence rebuild ) . The only thing the turbo is doing right now is sounding mean and causeing a huge exaust restriction , so the convertable is not running as fast as it did N/A :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :bigthumb: Ben will have more kills to post abt the convertable when he hooks up the turbo ;)

I did forget to mention that it took quite awhile to reach a 140 mph ;) but we still made it to 140 and won the race so we are happy lol

Isn't that really bad for the turbo? I mean the wastegate isn't going to open at all so your completely overdriving the turbo. I would think you're going to warp the shaft or something cause if it was hooked up witht he wastegate closed all the time you would probably getting over 25 PSI!

it has back pressure to the compressor side, and the 50MM external wastegate is closed indeed. the company that built my turbo and warranties it said it was fine that i didnt have it wastegated while it wasnt piped in. this turbo can produce well over 25 LBs. infact 47LBs a min flow, but my motor will never see it hehe. just wanted plenty of volume when its time to be forced ;) . as for the race goes brian pretty much sumed it up other than the fact my hood was off and i dont know if thats what intimidated the guy or not. but when he asked if he could i was like sure but were about to be waxed lol. BOY WAS I WRONG. it wasnt like we just up and pulled away like nothing, it was just a slow pulling away from the guy. i was shocked. i couldnt beleave it considering with this turbo on there and not piped in, its killed my whole powerband due to the major exhaust back pressure. hopefully soon ill have the upgraded injectors to be able to feel the boost for a change :) . im posting pics of the car/motor for those of you who have not seen it when i drove it to murfreesboro TN to the great cook out we went to. looking forward to meeting other rotorheads in the future ;) .
