S4 TII vs. RX-8
 

Title says it all; 1987 turbo 2 with an intake vs. a 2004 RX-8 with an exhaust. Other than that both cars are stock so naturally the race is fairly slow. Still should be entertaining though:lol:.

Damn I was not expecting that. What's up with your shifts? Car was rocking like crazy. I think you have a boost leak. I've had closer runs with an 8 in my n/a fc much less my T2...

You do know stock for stock a TII (even an S5) has no chance against a MT RX-8, right?

No chance? The fc in the video didn't get beat by much. So an s5 that doesnt have a tired motor will surely be close. The 8 is a bit heavier and makes a bit more power. Not much though. They're both slow honestly.

The 8 I raced in my n/a fc was auto so I'm sure that's why it was close. They make quite a bit less than the manual.

Sadly I've never had a stock t2 fc to race an 8 in. I had a streetport, 3 inch exhaust, fcd, and a manual boost controller cranked to 12 pounds. Now that is a race where the rx8 "has no chance"

Seemed like a bad launch, and thought it would of been a longer race. Not even sure if I saw it go into 3rd gear, but that's about right. I've owned plenty of na and t2 s4 & s5s, stock and modified differently. I know for a fact an s4 or s5 won't win stock for stock against a Rx-8, which I own along with my FD. The weights are not too much different, both close to 3000lbs, the s4 t2 182hp 185tq and the 8 with 238hp 159tq. So the Rx-8 getting the win is expected. It would take an intake, and catback for a fc to run head to head with the 8. Or just do intake and full exhaust and 12 lbs of boost and its over for the 8 even with full bolt ons. ;)

I'm not butthurt at all! I understand the 8 is faster stock for stock, but by saying no chance you make it seem like the 8 is a supercar. It pulled what seems like a car length on that 25yr old fc. Lets be honest here.. The 8 is a snail! It's a whole different story in the twisties. ;)

But think what you want because if I drove an 8 I'd like to think it was fast too. The truth sucks.

So, how does that indicate anything about me implying that the 8 seems like a super car? Ego hurt after I said an 8 is quicker than a stock TII and Turbo S5? What if I say a late model stock Toyota Camry is quicker than a stock TII/ T S5 as well?

I'm only talking about the no chance part. No chance to me is a 20b fc vs an rx8. No chance to you is pulling a stock fc by a car length? I would imagine that "no chance" means you would pull more than that...

Still, not butthurt. I don't drive a stock fc although if i did I would definitely be hurt about the camry part haha. I've got a street port, 60-1, sprint re and the fuel to back it up plus some other goodies. Maybe someday we will run into each other and do some runs. I love eating 8's. ;)

@Brian Reynolds "no chance" is exactly what happened in that video. Doesn't matter how much it gets pulled by it still was not going to win. It had no chance, I'm sure that 8 driver cant drive either. 238hp vs 180hp and the same weight means the RX-8 will win. The stock 20B FC vs RX8 is actually a way closer race then the stock S4 FC vs RX-8 race. That's 276hp vs 238hp, and you claimed the 8 has no chance in that race.

Yeah.. A 20b fc and a rx8 will be a close race.. :jerkit: Rx8 weighs around 300lbs more fyi.

If you're talking stock motor to stock motor and stock weight to stock weight its a way closer race than that FC vs. the 8. Yes or no? Exactly... that FC had NO chance, don't be mad because you're a hurt FC owner.

And the weight difference is actually about 100lbs. The FC may actually weigh more than the 8 with the added weight of the 20B and twin turbos, rats nest, etc.

You sure are good at tossing numbers around with that keyboard. You're the type of guy that lives off stock HP numbers from the factory like that's all that matters. The fact of the matter is that you take the numbers and sway them to fit your perception. Like saying 180hp fc vs 238hp 8. Honestly, it doesn't add up. If they weigh the same, how does a car with almost 60 more HP struggle to pull a car length?You're also swaying numbers by taking the lightest rx8 specs you could find vs heaviest (probably vert) fc specs.

Someday I will own a lightly modded fc, hit the dyno, and get a video with an 8. I have a lot of buddies that drive 8s and there's no comparison. The fc has more potential to go faster for less money. This shit got stupid a long time ago.

All I was trying to say was that "no chance" means the faster car could miss every gear and still pull ahead. If that 8 driver over revved or missed a gear the fc could have pulled. The dude can't drive and is running an intake on a t2. How is a intake that pulls hot air from the bay a good idea? The stock snorkel is a far better design.

Regardless, I'm not upset the 8 won. It's a newer car, rotary powered which makes it that much better. I'd be upset if mazda couldn't design a faster car almost 20 years later.

I'm done though, not gonna throw around numbers because it's stupid without a dyno sheet and video. Instead I'm gonna sell my built 13bt and start saving pennies to swap a 20b with cats, rats nest, ac, an power steering so I can be as fast as an 8. -__- lol good day sir.

Hahaha I just throw numbers around through my keyboard huh? The heaviest 8 barely cracked 3,000lbs, an FC (NOT vert) weighs 2,900lbs. 238- 180= 58hp difference. 276- 238= 38hp difference, those are not fake numbers, they are facts.

Get on my level, get some money to mod your $1,000 FC and then race me before you talk shit about me being a joke. A stock FC, probably beat up "drifter" also I'm sure, is a joke.

Don't judge me because I'm an fc owner. I love the fd too but I don't think I'm above everyone else because of it.

I blew it up drifting and racing with this stock rx8... At one point our mad tyte drifting was so awesome that we made all the 240 guys jealous. They're all talking about swapping stock 20b's with rats nest into their s chasis.

However the 8 was way faster than me so I pulled out the fd, and only pulled a half car because he's got 238 HP and I only had 255. Lol
