S4 stock port vs S5 street port.

I was at the Desoto motorsports park.

I was in line waiting my turn to run when this guy has a S5 rx7 wants to run me.

He says his car is ported with header, exhaust and custom intake piping and filter.

I told him I only have header, exhaust, custom ram air intake setup, some weight reductions.

We run and I destroy him the entire run. I was ahead from the begining. The race ended with me being about 10 or so cars ahead.

He ran a 15.2 and I got a 14.2

Then he tells me that my engine is ported also, he says he knows this because he has built rotaries for 10 years.. I told him he was wrong, it is original engine. He said I was a lier.

He was mad I blew his 7000 mile SP S5 engine, with a stock port 140,000 S4..lol

SpeedOfLife 04-10-08 11:03 AM

hahahahaha, +1

The Shaolin 04-10-08 11:59 PM

You ran a 14.2 with a 140k N/A motor?

I'm calling BS.

glhs0867 04-11-08 06:14 AM

Just for the record thats spinning all of first gear and all of 2nd gear and a nice chirp outta 3rd. Street tires suck.

I could get a 13 something with some slicks.

fcforlife 04-11-08 09:29 AM

bs

sharingan 19 04-11-08 09:46 AM

Gotta love those 1/8 mile kills!

Roen 04-11-08 10:13 AM

I called bs on this guy awhile ago, and found some interesting information.

I think he weighs only 2000 pounds, the other guy might have full weight.

You make it sound like you have a full weight normal interior S4, of course people are going to call BS on you. I think the outcome is obvious if you're giving me what 40 whp and I'm giving you 800 lbs. It would be more impressive if it was "I destroyed a 2000 lb car with ported S5 engine with my 2000 lb stockport S4 engine." ;)

shit, my car is completely gutted + ur mods + superlight weight rims and a whole bunch of other stuff and i cant run than time.

15.2 was my time

How much do you weigh?

glhs0867 04-11-08 12:12 PM

I should have explained more.

This was a race against a new ported engine, with similar mods, vs a lighter version with over 140,000 on the engine, stock ports.

However the S5 had no A/C or P/S, was built and ported by Mazsport.

I guess the main problem most have is SP engines aren't great on a n/a. They may show nice numbers on dyno, but they are slower in almost every aspect.
Thats why he said I was ported also..He was upset he spent $5000 for his engine.

Gringo Grande 04-11-08 12:46 PM

I want to see the timeslip and preferably a video.

no ac, still hav ps (for now)....bone stock my car wieghed 2656.

i'm guessing i'm between 2000 and 2300lbs.

i'll post on my weight when i weigh it.

glhs0867 04-11-08 02:10 PM

You may be surprised when your weight is only 2300 with gas and you in it!

Junkyard weighed my car and it came in under 2000 lbs.

PS: you can cut off and remove alot more weight than what you have said.

i kno....and i have. thus being about 2000-2300lbs.
i've taken out so many things it would be ridiculous to list everything and i wouldnt be able to remember everything either.

So, is this guys bullshitting or not. I find it hard to believe an S4 motor with 140k on the odo can beat a broken-in rebuilt streetport s5 motor...

93rx74lyfe 04-14-08 11:29 AM

Are you bragging about running a moded car into the 14's?:hahaha:

it depends,

a 140k stock S4 motor power a brick on wheels would probably beat a broken-in streetported S5 motor powering a cruise ship.

Doing it without VDI or turbo isn't half-bad. Take the turbo out of the FD and see how fast it goes down the 1/4 mile.

The FD was never built to run NA so of course it would be pretty crappy without the turbos.

mario1386 04-14-08 08:40 PM

how the hell you are running 14.2? and especially on a s4 motor. are you sure you looking at the right times on your slip?

and if its true , come to bithlo(orlando speed world)

of course, now try to run that with a motor that probably doesn't make as much power as an FD without turbos. ;)

ever heard the term "brick on wheels"? The car might actually weigh as much as one brick.
