rx7 vs porshe TT
ok im wondering .. if an rx7 with about 370 whp races a awd 400 hp twin turbo porshe........who would win ... from a stop??? a roll???? just a question ... i might challange porshe owner in the near future when my car runs and gets tuned,,,,,his car weight 3300lbs and im alot less than 3000lbs would the 30+hp of the porshe matter much with the extra weight???
|
find out the coefficient of drag for each car and the power to weight ratio then we can do this a little more mathematically instead of poking and guessing, also is in an AWD or RWD porsche?
|
AWD.. he says hes beats stock viper and shit like that .... his boost is at only.8 bar ... i sayhe got about 30o-400 more lbs maybe 30 hp and he only redlines like at 6.5k rpm ... i would be running et street or some other kind of street radial..... i will post and video the race i just have to see if i got a good chance....i know he would own me in 1st and maybe second but i would catch up shifting at a higher rpm......i need so input cause this might happen soooon.....
|
u ll win i think!!cuz you weigh less and ur putting down good amount of power!! nahh i dont belive him one bit that he beat stock viper!! stock viper has 500hp at the flywheel.. well the new one does at least
|
You should win, it will be a close run though, espically if he is AWD. You will just need a very good launch. You should be able to hang with vipers as well.
|
Go for it. Race him.
BTW, based on what a friend told me who ownes a Turbo S, Porsche imbedded traction control into the ecu and it is nearly impossible to get rid of it so according to him (my friend), this gets rid of the AWD launch advantage.

My 993tt with stage 1 kit. 450 crank or 380whp. Rx7 with 380 rwhp. Don't race in the 1/4 from a stop. You may trap the same but if he knows how to launch you're in trouble.
http://www.radkinsrx7.com/videos/FD%...sche%20993.mpg My 993tt against an 650rwhp supra dig!!! http://www.radkinsrx7.com/videos/993...from%20dig.mpg |
Oh yeah I raced a viper gts with exhaust from a dig and won by a car to 120mph. In the 993tt.

RX7 will win from a roll. From a stop, he will get the jump on you, and you may not catch him if the race isn't very long.

Indy, nice 911 you had! Thanks for the vid - pretty cool (Geezuz Supras are slow from a dig...different story on a roll though :) ). -Matt |
911 is one of the rare cars you don't want to run from a stop w/ the RX. Try to get him from a low-speed roll.

Matt,
Given two drivers of equal skill, an awd car will always get the jump. It's just physics. Since both cars are traction limited at the start, the car with the most traction (given equally skilled drivers) will always have the advantage. Just because you were able to get out ahead, doesn't mean that your car is faster from a stop. It simply means that YOU were faster :) |
That's kinda close... the Porsche certainly has an advantage with AWD, but the FD is allot lighter.
I think such a race would come down to the driver. |
Thats not true man I raced a Viper GTS from a dig and I smoked the living shit out of him. From a dig the 7 can take out lots of cars. you just suck at launching. Vipers got to much power and weight to be launching on a 7 from a stop. no chance later the Viper might catch up depending on the distance of the race. I raced my buddys 3000 VR4 off a dead stop and took his ass out by 2.5 cars and left him not seeing my tail lights. quote practice on your lauch!!!!!! Cause I can hook my 7 no prob......

Ever been to the strip? |
He said he was going to be running et streets or some other drag radial, that should pretty much eliminate the "awd advantage".

i raced one from a slow roll and beat him. he was at my door the whole time though. i have a vid of it however you cant really see him after i pulled ahead on him. although you can see that he never passes me or gets into camera view until i let off.
|
If you really wanna find out, go from a dig. If you just wanna make sure you dont get beat, go from a roll...I've seen GT(dont remember if its the 2 or 3 - but it was turbocharged) get pulled on a roll by a full bolt-on, non seq. twins R1.
You can win! I seriously doubt that the porsche with the extra 400 lbs can win even with the 30 hp deficit. I just hope this is not one of those what ifs that pop up every once in a while! |
you will loose from a dig but from a roll a fd will pull on him (not by much but enough to say its a win) are you on stock twins?
