Racing a Turbo Neon
 

I went gokarting with Dustin (Faster11) and raced an SRT4 afterwards.
I came up on him on the way back to D's house from K1 Speed.
The turbo neon was on the far right lane driving way too slowly for traffic. The Camry in front of me and I decide to jump to the left and pass. Soon as I move by the neon he revs up making himself and his loud blow-off valve known.
He pulls right along side of me, revs, and takes off. I take off right after him and get caught behind the camry, jump back into the right lane (2 lanes on our side) and am within a car behind him.

He flashes his emergency lights as if he won and gets into the right turn lane at the next light. Dustin sticks his head out as we pass and yells at him about how that wasn't a race. Really wasn't a race. It was a ricer fly-by to the max.

This hotshot jumps back into the main road and guns it to catch me. I was doing 40-50ish in 3rd, well below 2nd turbo spool. The instant he gets to my car I punch it leaving it in 3rd. He gets 1/4 a car on me then the 2nd turbo kicks.
I smile the rest of the way as I punked him by 3 cars before I let off in 4th gear.

Dustin said it sounded like the guy had a lot of exhaust mods but I'd said it was stock with a really loud bov. I like rice on my dinner not on cars, especially domestics.

Neon's are gay.

Even if he was to out accelerate your car you still win anyways... because you don't drive a neon. He probably went home and had sex with a male animal of some sort possibly a cat because his penis is that small.

I raced what seemed to be a highly modified srt4.

it boosted nearly instantly, my fb at high rpms had no chance at all whatso ever.

Literally he had to of had a straight open exhaust dumping.... I see him time to time, he seems to give little to no throttle at all ever.

I was fucking shocked at how fast it took off, no time to spool or anything (he didnt seem to rev it up or anything) very mild guy.

Now a 12a aint the fastest but I used to drag cars off the line alot and hit the speed limit and stop (letting them feel good as they pass too :) ) but this guy I went full out with and couldn't keep up for shit.

I've seen a few good ones. One was running 20psi+ with meth. I wouldn't mess with one of those but stockish they have no chance.
Any car with that kind of boost better be damn fast.

That SRT you describe sounds like a decent guy.

I let off after I've won so to not be too much of a show boat. 2ish cars is good enough.
One time I was making a right to go down the street back home and a 4dr Si flys by bouncing off the revs. No one else was around so must have been aimed at me. I rocket after him.
Pull right next to him and we both do the little dance punching it and letting off. We hit a light. Soon as it turns green I take off fish tailing my bald tires. I take him and let off. Only hit .66kpa though, was being nice =]
I cruise along and was about to wave him peace and go on my way when he rockets by, takes the next left and vtecs out.... I left that guy with a little too much pride intact

The one thing SRT4's have over FDs? Is that the engine was over engineered by dodge... bad for dodge, good for owner. Those motors can last a LONG time, and they can crank out over 800 hp on stock internals.

neons are alright, the srts look kinda clean

civic > neon

go-ped > neon

my shoes > neon

i raced a turbo'd neon in my n/a civic and tossed him @ speedworld in phoenix, az.
i beat a few WRx's in it too.

too bad i totalled it. haha

I'd take a nicely set up SRT4 over a SI. It has a smaller fanboy status... And I see you change your avatar.

Personally I would take the SI, they handle better, interior is nicer, lower insurance rate, bigger aftermarket, hot asian chicks will give you looks, retains its value better....

x2 SRT4's also have alot of problems just like any other chrysler

i had a civic with over 400k on the odometer and still had the stock motor.

and my '95 ex lasted until 250k before i did a B-series swap.

When I pounced him it sure wasn't a proper race, he was flying to catch up after I had cruised passed him so the fact I wasn't on boost and he was sure makes this pretty gay. Damnit I should always start first without a handicap.
Beating someone that has a jump on you sure makes your car look shitty.

I consider his second fly-by a pretty damn big signal

hey you cant talk down on srt4s i mean yeah its a neon, but they sound pretty damn sick with exhaust hella throaty and they get really good gas mileage 30mpg highway. not bad for a DD

Yeah that is one good point... an SRT4 will get better MPG than an SI.

That is also true for the exhaust, my friend's SRT4 had full open exhaust with just cats and man that car was so beefy sounding. Pretty fast too... if you didn't mind the torque steer :lol:

Its true, neons are a gay car. There's a guy in my town who drives a (I guess built neon, idk I never got close to it), anyways he's openly gay.

But then again. After a bit I just started to ignore racing certain cars on the street. Most of the time they're a punk that if even if you win, you still "lose".

Personally I never back out of any race. Even though my car is sooooo slow.

I remember this one time it was raining and I saw a BMW get all sideways making a left hand turn... he turns around and comes into the gas station where I was filling up my S13. He pulls up to me and starts talking smack about my car and challenges me to a drift-off saying BMWs are the ultimate drift car... I said sure, lets car up to the canyons right now, they are only 10 mins away. It was so funny the look on his female passengers face when she heard me say that :lol:... The guy totally backed out and said I was crazy for drifting in the hills... I told him the only true racing is in the hills, everything else is whack. When he left the girl smiled and waved at me as they drove off...

That made me want to vomit.
