Only 5psi-killed Srt4!!!
I was driving with my friend with a SRT-4 with some light mods boosting 15PSI he ran like a 14.1 1/4, we get to a red light at a 20MPH roll light turns green we both go in second, I pull ahead a little then he starts gaining, at the end of 2nd Im about a bumper up on him by the end of 3rd I can barly see his front bumper when I looked over. I thought I was boosting 10PSI BUUTT when I was driving home I noticed it boosts to 10 quick then drops to 5 in first the same thing drops to about 7 in 3rd, so I pull over turn up the MBC now its boosting 10 and holding!!! I WANNA RACE HIM AGAIN!!!! but I was excited befor but now Im Its just GREAT!!!
I know this isnt the tech section but does anyone know why it does this??? My mods are Ported engine stock turbo(stock wastegate)about to go 3" turbo back exhaust greddy 720 secondarys FD fuel pump Rtek 1.7 ECU |
Ah SRt-4s are pretty nice considering they are neons. My friend got walked on by one car leghth by one. He had a n/a 300zx and the guy was boosting over stock. Needless to say the 300zx owner is in the process of aquiring a turboed engine.
They sound pretty sweet also it SCREEMS and he has a mopar BOV sounds pretty sweet.
YEah the one my friend raced had a blow off valve too. Really sweet sounding.
You better race him again before he gets more mods..
Good Kill! |

BOV, you are probably talking abou tthe Mopar spacers they use that make so much damn noise. Rev it to 2 grand and it blows off.
yep thats it!

The MPFHBTRVNMWBARB does not do anything other than make noise. It does not relieve the pressure from the turbo, the actual surge valve on top of it does that. It does not accomidate more boost, it does nothing. It just takes the already expelled air and vents it instead of putting it back into the inlet of the turbo. There is only one thing the MPFHBTRVNMWBARB does which probly helps in theory but you really can't feel the difference. It prevents air from entering the turbo at 90 degrees to the air coming from the intake. ANd thats about all it does. Well i take that back, the MPFHBTRVNMWBARB also has a nice OMG bling bling affect to a certain degree. Read up boys for those of you who know SRT owners or have an SRT with the mopar Rice valve. http://www.exhaustdepot.net/bloffva101.html |
Nice kill. Call me stupid, but don't ALL turbo'd cars have BOV's?
As far as I know every turbo car has a BOV or something like it. Some use a redirecting valve or something so it doesn't go to atmosphere. When people usually say the car has a BOV it's cause they have a non stock one which makes a lot of noise. Most stock BOV's are pretty quiet.

Interesting so that noisey "mopar rice valve." does nothing. and every turbo doesn't have a BOV a blow off vavle blows the air into the atmosphere the redirecting valve just puts it back into the turbo. Whether or not it improves performance... |
bred.... not bread cause im not eating a rx7 or z sandwhich, yes n/a z's are REALLY slow not even a match for a srt 4 yeah its a neon but its a really fucking fast neon
^ word...
Well I am telling you what i saw an srt-4 was racing a 300zx both close to stock. they were even until 3rd gear when the srt-4 pulled away and it was over... You can say what you want but i saw what i saw buddy.
SRT-4 driver sucked then. MY friends H22 coupe is dead even with his friends 300zx TT(stock). He loses to my friends SRT-4 with bolt-ons. An N/A 300ZX makes about 170 whp. My moms Sentra could probably hang. :rlaugh:
its could all so be possible that the srt-4 was not in the greatest of shapes
It kills me to say it, but even though they are "Neons", SRT4's are no joke.
And you said that the SRT4 he had runs 14.1? Dont they run 14.2 stock? Sounds like this guy sucks at driving... |
quite possible...
dude the guy was a lame ass driver , they run low 14's to high 13's with a REALLY good driver, but with mods that cat should be able to hit 14 flat easy which would tear a old beat up na 300 a new asshole....
my friend got SmOkEd out of his mind by a srt-4 they were going about 40mph, my friend in a 240 with sr was in 2nd i think....they took off and the srt-4 was more then a car length if not 2 ahead before my friend even got to 3rd...........we found out where the guy works and checked his car out while it was parked so we didnt talk to him but it seems to be modified quite a bit......from what we could see it was straight 3" pipe off the turbo all the back...pretty big fmic....and carbon fiber hood...rest we couldnt tell but he was fast
after all that my friend told me it dosnt matter that he beat me.... at the end of the day he is still driving a neon and laughed |
either way out..a neon is a neon
but a srt4 is just a quick version :) |
update!!! my friend with the SRT4 put bigger injectors and a ECU in and is running 20PSI boost rather then 15, well last night I raced him again it was kinda cool and my car was boosting 12 PSI in second and third we raced at a light from a start 1st and 2nd I pulled on him pretty good and had a car on him then in thrid he started to catch up a lil we stoped at about 90 and I has still almost a car ahead of him!
anybody who can drive in an srt can run low 13's, i know a guy with just an exhaust and waste gate in his and he runs high 12's. those cars are nuts. but retarded because they are fr.
Yeah, low 13's high 12's are pretty common with those SRT's....if you're going to race them on the street, try not to go from a roll, because their FWD doesn't give them traction for the takeoff. ;)
