Long awaited Rematch (04 GT stang) vs. (87 TII)
So, here's the setup. 04 GT Mustang (automatic) with a custom magnoflow exhaust (approximately 270 hp and 3400 lbs). a little history on his car. He raced a 2001 eclipse (215 hp) 5spd and beat it by around 3 lengths. He raced a 85 (5.7L) vette approximately 300hp) and lost by less than a car length and was catching him. So, this car isn't slow by all means.
Anyways, last time i raced that vette my car was stock and he beat me by about 4 car lenghts so i'm thinking this mustang is going to kill me since he hardly lost to him. So we're lined up and i had the car balanced at around 4k. I give the three honks and we take off. I slowly release the clutch to get the car rolling then after i'm at about 5-10mph i release it a little pass half. This technique worked perfectly cuz the car took off. I jumped about a car length ahead of him, enough to see him in my rear view mirror. I took it to about 7.3k and threw it into second and pulled to around 2.5 car lengths. Ran through third gear and 4th and the gap stayed the same. When we got done he said he spun at the beginning so he wanted to do it again. So, we did. Again I had a great launch and pulled about 3/4 of a car length ahead. Slammed into second, the car grabbed but and i slowly pulled to about a 1 car lead. Into third he slowly started to creep up on me which was expected. 4th gear i could still see both of his lights in the rear view mirrow, but he was still catching me slowly. I stopped at around 100-110ish. He pulled up next to me and said there wasn't enough room for him to pass me, which i believe, but he wasn't close enough for him to pass me anyway. +1 for the rotary!!!!!!!! Actually, given any other day he most likely would have won, but it was like 30 degrees out so my car was really pullin!! Too bad he didn't know any better..... :) We are going to race again on a different road in the upcoming weeks... i'll keep u guyz posted.... |

Trust me I know...my first car would have been lucky to put 200 to the ground in a 3800 lb package. I had a LOT of fun in it!
|
you should pull on him all the time
|
^^no, he should beat him by a big. Mustandg has about 60hp give/take over him, then the rx7 has 800lbs, meaning that he should put about a car on him, sounds about right. Good run!

I want to race some older mustangs in my Na , older mustangs being like 96 and older GT mustangs...back then those mustangs were only 215 - 225 hp and still weighed 3077-3300 lbs depending on year

O ya, just to update ya, we were supposed to race tonight. but i had a coolant hose bust and my car almost overheated. so i stopped at napa bought some coolant took out my thermostat, filled her up and drove home almost happy. It might go down tomorrow if i can pick up a new gasket and gasket sealant.... hehe ordered some heat wrap for my downpipe too!!! O, quick question, has anybody installed a hardpipe for an s4 by chance? Kinda eager to see any performance gain (have to find one first)!!
|
hardpipe?
|
my bad... let me clarify... meant a hardpipe for the TID.... but i found an awesome website, its called spectreperformance.com. You can build ur own intakes, that's probably wut i'm gonna do b4 we race again. I want a gauranteed win i guess...
